IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME HERE, WELCOME! Normally a process post like this would happen over on my Projects blog but since this one includes a giveaway it's happening here (and there's lots of December Daily goodness happening over there). If you'd like to learn more about my site check out my Welcome or About Ali pages.
Here's a look at a stamp I love from the new catalog and the one I'm using in my layout today:
Hello zig zag!
I decided to do a page that highlights some of the things I love about Anna right now.
Here's a look at my process:
I used the new Hero Arts Zig Zag stamp to create a pattern on my white cardstock with Jenni Bowlin Chewing Gum and Malted Milk inks. I didn't stress about making it perfect because I knew I would be adding content on top.
I started by adding a sticker border (Sassafras for Studio Calico) along the bottom - popping it up with foam dots.
I knew I wanted the title to read "Things I love" and I hoped it would fit in that space. Chipboard letters are American Crafts Goodness by Amy Tangerine.
Photo is 4x6 and was printed with a white border.
And yes, another one of those wood flags is popping up here. I love those things.
"Beautiful" is from a set of GCD Studios Melody Ross Soul Food Collection Chipboard Stickers.
For the journaling I used one of my Awakening 4x6 overlays. I opened it in Photoshop, added my text and printed on cardstock.
Along the bottom of the overlay I added a bit of washi tape (I think that came in a Studio Calico kit), her initials in those great little Lily Bee alphabet letter stickers, and an old metal arrow (I think from 7gypsies). Love those arrows. Someone should make those again.

My favorite tradition is one my Mom started. Each year she gave us an ornament that represnted something about our life that year...putting the ornaments on the tree was such a beautiful trip down memory lane. I still have those ornaments and love sharing their stories with my children. And I give my own children ornaments too.

One favorite tradition is helping my son choose an ornament for what he calls his "ugly tree"; he has been doing this for a number of years and is looking forward to taking it with him to college when he begins next year.

On Christmas Eve, my parents and I have dinner and exchange gifts. Christmas Day and Boxing Day are usually spent with family, but on Christmas Eve it's just the 3 of us. And for Christmas Day dinner my mother always makes red cooking pears for dessert - regardless of what else in on the menu!
Another great give-away Ali! I love Hero Arts stamps - they got me stamping some 10+ years ago!

Thanks Ali for a chance to win. My favorite holiday tradition is decorating the tree. I love to see now that the children are getting older that they got so excited to see all of the ornaments that they have made through out the years.

My favorite Christmas tradition is writing our annual letter that recaps the year's events. The letter is sent to all our out-of-town family and friends but a copy also goes into an album that has become our family history. Both of my grown kids still participate by providing input and love to go back through the album and reread previous letters. Early editions were simply computer printed with maybe a colored font. Now I use my scrapbooking supplies to embellish the pages and try to make each year's version a little different. Love your work, Ali, and am always inspired by all you do. :-)
