For The Love Of Laughing
Sometimes it can be painfully obvious to myself that I might be a little too serious.
Last night Anna I and climbed onto her bed to read some of her new library books.
The first one she picked out is called Walter The Farting Dog.
Okay, ha, ha. Sounds funny and silly and perfect for my three-year-old who loves nothing more than saying any number of phrases related to poop.
I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard.
And I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard with her.
And I know she liked that because I could see the surprise and delight on her face at seeing my laughing so effortlessly.
I bet we'll read it again tonight.
Ha! Anna is a girl after my own heart - that book's a favorite in our library! Ours actually came with a little stuffed Walter and when you squeeze his tummy, he farts :) Be sure to check out the other Walter books "Banned from the Beach" and "Trouble at the Yard Sale"

I am guilty of loving toilet bowl humour...passed it on to my kids as well. I will definitely have to find this book. I can already imagine my husband reading it to them and filling in any dead space with delightful sound effects.

We got this book for one of my client's, he's a very special needs child and this is exactly what broke the ice for him and the family. The speech therapist used this book over and over to work on words etc. Adding humor to all the difficult treatments is what this family needed (and me) :)

You should try the series Binky the Space Cat too (especially now that you have George). He eats "aliens" (i.e., flies) to protect his humans even though they give him "space gas" which is bad enough that his little stuffed toy mouse covers his nose!! :)

I think Stacy Julian had this one on her blog a while back, but I had to replace quite a few books lately and one that my 3 year old son loves (he even has some memorized) is Tickle Monster by Josie Bissett. He and dad sit down and read it. A tickle monster comes and you tickle your child as you read. It has been fun for him.

This is AWESOME! Thanks for the reminder:)
One my daughters' favorite books (& a fav. children's author of mine) is called "Smelly Socks" by Robert Munsch. I think Anna would love his books too - http://robertmunsch.com/.

One of our ALL TIME FAVORITES. Our 7 year old came home not too long ago and reported that her 2nd grade class had been banned from the part (up the road from school). All I could think of was the Walter sequel "Walter the Farting Dog: Banned from the Beach"...we reference Walter books A LOT around here... :)

Whenever I meet lovely young ladies I offer them two pieces of advice.
Anna may be young, but I bet her Mom would love to start her on these journeys. I hope.
First keep a list of all the books you read. When I meet that genie, I'm going to ask for a room filled with all the books I've read in chronological order.
Second, start a diary/journal for everyday happenings. Could be a simple one inch square saying school, pool, shopping, etc. When she hits her teens, she'll already have a 'friend' she can confide in.
PS. Munch has a great, hilarious book called Good Families Don't.

Haha! call me immature, but a fart joke pretty much always makes me laugh. I just requested this book from the library! :) THanks for the recommendation.

Have you ever seen Bookaboo? I love it because they read a whole bunch of children's stories that are out of my comfort range. I normally would never buy the kinds of stories they read but they are funny and have awesome messages behind them.

Oh - you absolutely have to find this one for Anna.
The Story of the Little Mole Who Knew it Was None of His Business
by Werner Holzwarth & Wolf Erlbruch or Why do Dogs Sniff Bottoms (can't remember the author). They are just such funny stories about these delightful topics that kids love!!!

I had a similar experience while reading Junie B. Jones with my son. It's really funny and delightful. Also, the whole Mercy Watson Pig series if you are looking for some funny additions.

Sounds delightful! I've seen those books, but unfortunately my kiddos are probably too old for them. :( Although they still like talking about farts and poop! LOL Do they ever outgrow that?
Glad Anna was able to share the laughter with her mama. <3
