Studio AE From Technique Tuesday | March Blog Hop
Tags:Welcome to the Studio AE for Technique Tuesday Blog Hop.
March's stamp set is called Beauty Of Spring.
Here's the layout I put together using this set:
So loving enlarged photos.
It's not really anything new - I've long been a fan of going big in this way. This week I decided to make the entire enlarged photo the background for my layout.
Here's a look at my process:
I started off by printing this photo as a 12x12 on my Epson R2000 using 13x19 photo paper.
What you see above is how I trim some of the paper off before laying it on my paper trimmer to remove the extra white paper.
I knew there were two things I wanted to capture with this page: (1) a celebration of spring-weather here this past week and (2) use the title "most of the time" (which relates to the fact that these two kids really do get along together "most of the time").
I also really love the the new cloud vellum (Dear Lizzy collection) and wanted to use that too.
For the title I used a combination of American Crafts Robin's Egg Pantry Fresh Foam stickers and Amy Tangerine Goodness letter stickers on top of the vellum. I rounded the top corners of the vellum with my Corner Chomper (using the 1/2 inch setting). Under the letter stickers I used some star rub-ons from October Afternoon's Boarding Pass rub ons and stitched the entire piece onto the page with my sewing machine.
One of the things I played with was cutting off the right couple inches of the photo and maybe using a bigger piece of vellum in-between the two pieces of the photo and turning the page into a two-page spread - this is why you can see a seam along the edge of the section with the journaling. I ended up bringing it back together and doing a zig-zag stitch along the seam.
That strip became home for my stamped sentiment, initial letters and journaling.
I underlined the stamp (used Timber Brown Staz On ink) with a Precision Pen. The S and A are wood veneer from Studio Calico. The little bit of red lined rub-on along the edge is also part of the October Afternoon's Boarding Pass rub ons set.
To get a bit more repetition going on the page I added another piece of vellum, some red rub-on stars, a date stamp, and a little line from an older Jenni Bowlin rub on alpha set. Stitched with my machine to keep it in place.
JOURNALING | The sun started shining here this week - beautiful, lovely, warm sunshine. Katie took you guys to the park on Sunday afternoon while Dad and I mad a meeting and you both loved being outside. As I looked back through the photos I saw lots of smiling and happy faces. I'm often asked if you guys get along all the time - I've got lots of pictures of you two having fun together. My answer is most of the time. Most the time you do love being with each other. Most of the time it's about kindness and fun. Of course it's not all the time - you are so totally normal. I feel so thankful that you do enjoy each other and show love and kindness. I love you both so much. Keep being kind.

I love this LO and the way you used the stamps. All your little details just add up so beautifully together. And to Katie...her photography skills are right up there with the best! (I am assuming she took this shot?)

What a great layout! Love the journaling...I often wonder if my two boys like each other, but when I step back and look at the big picture I realize that they do enjoy each other "most of the time." And ultimately that is what matters :). Thanks Ali for the creative inspiration.

I have not used vellum before. Been a little afraid to try but I like the idea of stamping the words on it and then adding it over the picture. Something new for me to try with the vellum just holding a place in my stash.

I love this layout! I love the story! I love that you made something work that wasn't working (cutting the strip and sewing it back). Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to get this stamp set in the mail! So ready for spring!

Great lo! I love this stamp set!! Early spring is my second favorite time of year (fall being #1). I chuckled at your title and thought I could use it but only by changing the "most" to "some"!

I love that cloud vellum, too! In general I love the softness that you can get and yet still see what's behind the vellum.
My daughter is at a wonderful age where she gets a lot of joy from making her brother laugh and just appreciating how genuine he is, so while things were rocky almost all the time for a few years, now I have to calm them down from rough-housing or just being a little too loud and rowdy with their playing when they are together. And there is definitely a LOT of joy for me, when they are sharing joy with each other! Glad to hear that you're not just catching a few joyful moments but a habit of joyfulness for your kids!
