Awesome. You need to check out the Scribble Press App for iPad. It allows you to draw, color, and create your own stories. PLus you can share and print. My 10 year old loves it.

Sounds like another great reason to get that iPad you've been "needing." (wink)
That sounds cool - need to get that darn ipad first :)
FANTASTIC!!! Lots of talent there! Encourage him to tell his own stories with those characters and then evolve into his own characters. It's the way MANY an illustrator/cartoonist has started out.
Wow! I knew exactly who he'd drawn even before seeing the book in his hands! Great job! I can tell that you are so proud and rightfully so, Ali! I hope he gets a lot of pleasure from this!
My son (an aspie) has piles of sketchbooks everywhere filled with drawings. His drawings are super small, but very detailed and always some kind of machinery or weapon of war. I don't mind the subject matter so much when I know he's enjoying what he's doing and draws such creative inventions. He really wants to grown up and be a weapons designer and I think with his ability to have intense focus, he might be really good at it. Anyway, have fun with Simon's gift!
this is awesome, encourage him by looking into art classes at your local art center. or even talking to his teacher at school, the teacher can even be more encouraging with his art work.
Awesome! An artist like his Mama! I have bought plain sketch books for my boys for a while. They love them. I have one who draws constantly. They are not using my printer paper, and I end up with a great record of their little hieroglyphics.
That is how I started to draw and get interest to my artistic talent but I was probably a few years younger than Simon. It was about 6 for me when I got the bug also free hand drawing by looking at a picture... a budding artist!

Annette - I've never seen him draw anything other than stick people until the other night. It was a complete surprise.
