Storytelling With Project Life® Workshop Registration Now Open

Last year during my in-person workshops one of the classes I offered was Storytelling With Project Life®. I'm excited to introduce you to the online version today and let you know that registration is now open and class will begin on Tuesday, February 2nd.

Since the beginning I've been a fan, a supporter, an advocate and an active participant of the Project Life® style of memory keeping. These albums have become some of my most treasured for the sum of their stories - all those little details weaved together to literally showcase the fabric of my life. They are home to my highs and lows and all the in-between days and include details that simply would not have been recorded without this format in place.

For the online version of Storytelling With Project Life® I've taken the original in-person class content and expanded it into a 4-week workshop that includes video overviews of my past albums, a closer look at my personal processes, more storytelling ideas, and examples of how I used the optional Storytelling Class Kit (see details below and a bundle offer) along with other go-to products.

Even though the name and structure of this class is similar to the December Daily® workshop, Storytelling With Project Life® is a completely different class that will solely focus on that particular project and my experiences over the last five years.

Here's a look at what we'll be covering in this 4-week adventure:

Week One | A look back at all my past Project Life® albums with individual video walk-throughs. The take-away from this lesson is the opportunity to learn from the past and reflect on what's worked and what's not worked to create a plan for right now.

Week Two | Process exploration. Setting expectations, creating a plan for yourself (key word here being "YOU") and setting yourself up for success by establishing a storytelling mindset. This content will be specific to telling stories in Project Life®.

Week Three | Specific storytelling ideas, encouragement, and inspiration to spark stories.

Week Four | Working with products in Project Life® (includes how I worked with the optional class kit).

A couple things to note:

  • For the last five years I've shared all many of my Project Life® spreads on my blog. Content included in this workshop will come from my experience all those past years.
  • The class kit is optional and I'll be talking about a variety of different ways I use both Project Life® branded products as well as pocket scrapbooking products.
  • As always, the content in the workshop will be my take on this style of memory keeping (weekly Project Life® spreads). We might not have lives the look even remotely similar but the content is more about embracing and documenting your own story vs. me telling you to do it my way.
  • The content in this workshop will be different from Storytelling With December Daily® even though it follows a similar structure. Some ideas may overlap, because, well, it's all about storytelling - but this workshop is focused on the Project Life® approach and style.

My hope is that this workshop will be a springboard for you to get to your own heart of the matter with Project Life®.

I am in my 5th year of PL and am happy with my process, but I have still enrolled for this class because I got so much out of the DD one (even though I have tackled that for years too). Just being totally immersed in the subject matter really inspired me with the DD. I know I could go back through your blog myself and look at all of your pages, but you have this knack of pulling it all together and showing us that the total is more than the sum of the parts.

I'm definitely interested in this class! I've decided to do weekly page spreads through the PL app, however, I have several kits that I also need to use up. Hopefully I'll be able to sign up soon!

One of the roadblocks I have with PL is that I have photos that I love, and I have stories, but they rarely coincide and it feels disjointed to me. I also find that my memory is awful and if I don't keep up (which I don't. ever.) the journaling becomes who what and when. Will you have ideas for capturing thoughts and stories for those times when you get behind? Thanks Ali, for all your inspiration!

I think the content in this class will appeal to you. I am not caught up either so a lot of what I have been doing is going back and filling in the holes. I'll definitely be talking about my approach - including the different things I do to make it feel less disjointed.

Bummer, I wish the bundle information had been provided yesterday with the email that was sent out. I signed up yesterday and purchased both. :(

All signed up! I was bummed that I missed this class last year when you taught at Crop and Create in Markham! SO excited you're offering it in this format :-)

As an aside - my 8 year old thinks I watch too many Ali Edwards videos because he now recognizes your voice! LOL

I'm a sucker for all things Ali has been doing lately. Signed up, kit purchased. Can't wait for the class to start. I'm inspired to work on Project Life more this year. I've been doing it since 2009 (back when it was called Project 365) and love it so much. Can't wait to add some more ideas and inspiration to this years (and maybe even to last years, since I'm still playing catch up!)

I'm so excited! I need this because my exclusively digital Project Life has become practically all photos and limited storytelling. I've already registered. Is there any way to download the included digital kit now, prior to class starting? If not, I'll try to patiently wait :)

This might be here somewhere and I'm missing it but, for this class, will you be completing 12x12 pocket pages or a variety of sizes? I have been a traditional scrapbooker for years and want to get in to the Project life style of pages and thought this class would be the perfect place to start. Besides the recommended kit, which I purchased, I do need to buy some pocket pages. Besides the basics: paper, cardstock, adhesives, etc., is there anything else you would recommend I purchase?

Hi! In Week Four when I show some specific processes I'll be using 12x12 Design A page protectors (http://amzn.to/1OE6V8L). Those are the ones I use as the base for all my weeks - I like the simplicity & consistency of those pockets as the foundation. I think after the class you'll have an idea of the kinds of supplies you might want to purchase as well - I usually have a Core Kit on hand. Right now I have Everyday (http://www.shopbeckyhiggins.com/products/everyday-edition-core-kit) and Midnight (http://www.shopbeckyhiggins.com/products/midnight-edition-core-kit-physical-shop-by-edition-shop-by-designer) + my Story Kits™.

They are not brand new - I think they were a part of the September or December product release. I used them on some of the cards in the optional kit.

Hi Ali! So excited about this class! I've fallen a bit behind with my PL, and this will be just the inspiration I need to catch up! Hey - I was wondering - will you have a FB group for this class like you do for OLW and December Daily? Those groups have been so supportive and fantastic! Thanks!

I'm glad I saw this posted elsewhere because I'm still not getting emails from you, despite being a stamp subscriber and several conversations! Signed up and looking forward to it. It's my first year of project life and I'm finding I have too many photos and not enough room to go into detail on the stories so hopefully I'll get some tips!

Ali - I am wondering if the stamp set will be offered individually for sale? I am already so overwhelmed with cards, from multiple core kits and years as a Studio Calico PL/Documenter subscriber, but I'd love to have the physical stamp.
    Thanks! Lauren

I am sad to say that my daughter is now 17, and I don't remember all of the details from when she was younger. I can remember certain things ... would this class help me build stories if I have only limited memories or do you have a suggestion on something else I can do? Thanks! Donna

Hi Donna - I don't think anyone remembers "all" the details (even those of us who have been documenting things all along). In this class I will be talking about documenting right now as well as going back and filling in parts of my past albums that have holes in them (where I also don't remember everything). When I'm filling in those spreads my writing is more reflective because I don't have the details - the answer is yes, I will be talking about my approach to that.
