December Daily® 2024 | Foundation Page Idea From Ali
Tags:One of the ideas I've had on a sticky note for December Daily® 2024 is to do a "page full of words." I had specifically set aside this collection of chipboard words from the Main Kit and stacked them on top of one of the 10x8 transparencies a few weeks back and I've looked at it multiple times since then as I decided if I wanted to commit to this idea.
I'm so glad I did!
I ended up adhering them to the "tis the season" transparency and creating a shaker pocket with vellum on the back. I'll be using this page towards the end of the month, most likely alongside content (words + photos) for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
IDEAS TO NOTE
Use the concept of a "page of words" as a jumping off point for a page in your project. Your words might be stamped or you might use letter stickers or plastic words or a combination of things.
Part of what's fun about using all these words together is that they are all the same width and their heights are varied depending on the number of letters in the word.
Consider stitching chipboard words to the transparency.
In the video I also talk a bit about how using a bunch of the same item (repetition) can be a fun way to approach the design of a project. You can use any of these chipboard words on their own or play around with a more "maximalist" approach.
If you don't want the bulk of the chipboard you could also create something similar by using a die cut machine to cut out the words.
Let's take a look at the simple process video:
Here's a few images:
Here's a look at what the back looks like right now:
I'll be adding content here during December.

Gorgeous Ali, Love the Idea.
When I received my main kit (yay, my first DD kit), I immediately knew I want to save one of the words to use as my OLW word for 2025.
December always feels like a month of reflections, endings + beginnings, emotional yet magical, Hello's and Goodbye's...
There is something about December.
Holidays/Christmas, Twinkle Lights
No matter if you feel festive or not,
Feel Merry or Not,
The fact that you can experience another December is a gift.
For everyone having a bit of a hard time,
Thank you for being here,
Thank you for showing up,
Thank you for your allowing yourself to feel the way you feel,
Like your stories,
Your Feelings do MATTER TOO.
YOU MATTER TO ME and to so many others.
You ARE the MAGIC.
Lot's of LOVE,
December Girl...

Love words but this really hit the spot for all the feels I feel in December. What font is the chipboard words I would like to use it in my DD. Thanks Ali for another simple but meaningful foundation page.

Ok, this is my fav so far. Love it. I might even do this for the title page with a clear pocket for the reason why on the back.

Stunning page design. Simple, elegant yet whimsical. This is a page I will definitely replicate in my own album. Loving all the inspiration this year.

Hey Ali! LOVE this so much. Did you use a whole packet of the sequins? This will be my first shaker page and I'm not sure how much to put in. Thanks for the inspiration- always!

I put about 1/2 the package in this one (I had about 1/2 of the package left from using it previously).

Ali, I love this idea. Thanks for the inspiration. I don't have a sewing machine. Any ideas on how to make a shaker card without stitching????

You can make one with a full-size page protector (or do it in the smaller pockets of a multi size protector) and hand stitch the top closed. I have also seen foam tape and/or solid lines of red line tape used, but you would likely want to cover those edges with patterned paper or ribbon to hide the adhesive strips. Starry Night Creations makes shaker pocket covers in card sizes that already have adhesive around the edges - you simply fill them, and they fold around the backer paper. So many options!

I love this page! I don't usually do just word pages, but this one really stood out to me. I was a bit sad that I didn't get the "tis the season" transparency in my 10x8 transparency pack, but I know things happen.
