Being home...
Tags:is kinda strange after being gone for so long.
It is all the same and different all at once. An adjustment back into my normal existence I suppose.
Simon is talking SO much. All day long he was just chattering away. My Mom taught him how to use the mouse on the computer so he is all over that - his favorite right now is the Max & Ruby game on Nick Jr. In addition to the computer game, today consisted of a trip to Costco & the grocery store, a wonderful little nap in mama's bed, and a bike ride to the park. It is amazing how much stronger he is over the course of a couple weeks - he rode his bike all the way to the park and about half way back. Being with my parents and being so active outside - running on the beach and through the tall grass - is just the best thing for him.
A couple loads of laundry have been done. Groceries put away. Some bills paid. And, I have been checking out the piles of papers and stuff around here today as well - plan to attack them in some form tomorrow.
I did take along a scrapbook on the road for the trip. Did a bit of journaling and collected a bunch of stuff - not as much journaling as I would have liked. Hoping to put that together here soon as well. Looking forward to being home for a couple weeks.
On another note, I am going to be attending a very cool event in January 2007 in Pennsylvania. If you are interested in more info you can check it out here: Split Rock Resort Event/Scrappin Away Vacations.Class sign-ups begin September 5th.
Also, I am going to be in Portland at Art House next week on Tuesday the 29th for a book signing/hang out event. I think it starts at 6pm.

I'm a speech therapist in the schools and use this site with a lot of the younger kids with autism: meddybemps.com
Has tons of convo eliciting material and works on concepts with moveable animals. The kids really like it.
Reading about Simon using the mouse and playing Max and Ruby made me think of it.
Enjoy!

I always love coming home after a trip... there's really NO PLACE LIKE HOME! Just call me Dorothy. LOL!
Glad you're back... and it sounds like you have a full schedule! Fun classes!
And what a great mini-album you linked to. I'm so inspired... I've already came up with reasons why I scrap and I'm going to use all the yummy MME goodies that came last night to make a mini-album. Those rub-ons and transparencies, and die-cuts totally ROCK! And here's a great project to use them in! Thanks girl... for always helping me to THINK... and then DO! CREATE ON!

Welcome home! I can't imagine trying to get back in the groove after your trip. I just returned from 5 days in Utah and I am lost.
The Art House! Love that place. I was just there a week ago. Hopefully I can make it on the night you'll be there. I still need to pick up your book too.

So happy that Simon is doing so well - a website my 3yo LOVES is www.starfall.com ... so far we just stick to the ABC page and he can do it by himself. But when he wants to play the harder ones, mommy "drives" and reads it to him.

Ali, what made you look into seeing a Dr. for Simon? What alerted you to the fact that there was something to be diagnosed? I've taught older kids with PDD and Asperger's for years, but my youngest is displaying some interesting behavior (absence of eye contact, lining things up, constantly putting everything just where it goes instead of playing with it, not saying Mama until 19 months old) that makes me curious what the PDD symptoms, if any, are at an early age. What were your clues?
