So it started out normal...
Tags:and then took a bit of a turn. After coming home from a couple errands, I was eating and Chris was surfing online and Simon was out watching the elephant movie. After a bit I walked out there on my way upstairs and encountered a BIG mess. Simon had an "accident" of the number two variety and had gone through the process of walking through it, wiping it all over interesting places (furniture, TV, etc), and stomping it into the carpet. Lovely. I think maybe he had been dancing.
Chris headed out to get a steam cleaner almost immediately and I put Simon in the bath. A couple hours later this house is a whole lot cleaner than we ever imagined it would be today. Those steam cleaners work pretty darn well.
Since then Simon took a nap and just finished up running through the sprinkler.
Maybe, in the scope of our lives, this is really pretty normal after all.
Here's to you and whatever normal is in your life.

Yep, sounds pretty normal to me too, except it was vomit, and it was the freshly cleaned vehicle, and me (did I mention I had to change my shirt 5 times?)
Sorry to hear about your mess. Enjoy your new clean carpets while they last! :)

Ali,
After a really bad week I went to a store where a woman handed me a basket full of papers entitled "Little Wishes". She told to me to pick one and open it up. Mine happened to say:
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are."--
- Mary Augustine
I now have that sitting on a shelf in the kitchen and plan to paint it on the wall just to remind me.
And good for you for having a sense of humor about your "normal" day!!!

Normal at my house too. My daughter was running around naked (3+ years old) with her new shoes on. Apparently those new shoes have incredible treads, because there was poop up and down the whole hall when she was done. Coincidentally, my other daughter managed to spill a cup of her Dad's coffee on the computer keyboard at the same time. The noticeable differenc her is that we did not run out a buy a steam cleaner. I think we may a little too lazy?

Been there. Done that. Will probably do it again. Wouldn't trade being a mom for anything--even poop free carpet!

As icky as it is, I really hope he had fun dancing. Sometimes, just sometimes, having crazy fun is the best kind of fun. You might want to show him how to make mud though for the next time he needs to have some crazy fun. A heap of dirt, and some water from the hose, a fine day, and a little boy. How much more perfect can it get?

I shouldn't have laughed as hard as I did, but boy did I! Sounds like a perfectly normal little boy thing to do. And a normal day with a toddler!

Why is normal often so icky? I guess when you go through a doozy like that it makes the rest of life seem easier. Sounds like you handled it great!

so glad to hear this happens to other peoples children! A month ago Warren put poop all over his wooden trains because he wanted them to be dirty so he could clean them!

That's just the worst when you're right smack dab in the middle of it (and I've been there). But, later on, it will spawn many laughs (HUGS to get you through, until the laughs come)!
