Studio Friday : Artist Block

Tags:

Beach_2 This week's Studio Friday topic is about breaking free from Artist Block. Everyone gets to a point where they are just stuck, when the juices aren't flowing, when nothing seems to be coming together. I totally know this feeling. For me, the answer has always been to leave my creative space. To get away and out and do something entirely different. Being in a new environment tends to get me going again. There is something about freeing yourself from the project at hand, from the lists of things to do, even for just a short amount of time that allows the creative juices to start flowing again. Even if I literally can't leave or get away I will go into another room to simply let my eyes rest for a couple minutes from whatever it was that I had been engrossed in. I think the more frustrated you let yourself get the worse it all becomes. This last week my answer was to clean up my space. I needed a fresh look at my supplies (and in some cases actually needed to see what I really have - way too many piles). You can see other artists ideas about getting unblocked here. I especially liked this one and this one. What is your answer for getting over a block? Studio Friday also has a cool, full-of-info area called Articles + Advice. Check it out for even more inspiration. Also, I would like to include a question and answer section in my new AEzine. If you have a question for me send it to my email with NEWSLETTER QUESTION in the subject line.
