Our lives will change today.
Tags:One of the most amazing things I am facing right now is that, regardless of the outcome, our lives will be changed today in a big way. How often do you really know that your life will change? I was emailing with my friend Florence and she commented, "generally you can feel change coming and kinda creeping up on you - it's not often really such a tangible something." I am anxious. I am excited. I am trying to keep it all in perspective and know that whatever happens it will be for something good.
Thank you for so many supportive emails over the last few months regarding the election. One that I really appreciated came this morning from Beth who wrote,
So what's happening right now? It is 8:30am and Chris is out waving signs in the pouring (seriously pouring) rain in one area of our community. After that he will be back on the phones encouraging last minute voters to turn in their ballots. Tonight we will gather at the Lane County Fairgrounds where the returns will begin being announced at 8pm (pacific time).
I am planning to have updates throughout the night here on my blog. My sister also found this site which will begin having results posted after 8pm pacific.
Stay tuned.

(BTW: I AM a Dem and if I lived in Oregon, I'd vote for Chris!)

I can't imagine what it must be like…
I just walked over to the polls, on this unseasonably warm day (to the point that i can't ever remember walking to the polls, until dan reminded me, 'Uh, Cathy…it's two blocks.') but nevertheless…
i tried to imagine looking on a ballot and seeing someone's name that i actually knew. You know?
You guys rock. Chris is cool. Seriously. I can't imagine doing what he's doing. Either way. You're right. It's all good.
Love you.

Today is about making choices. As an American we have been given that right to choose. A party line should not determine the "better" choice. People need to make the choice that is good for them. Based on what I have read and seen, Chris would be my choice as he wants to do what is right, regardless of what others think it should be. It seems as if he has made a choice to represent everyone. Best of luck today. Lets hope the right choice is made and he wins. He made a great choice to take a risk and my prayers are with you and your family, that the rest of Oregon makes the right choice too!!!

I am a Canadian, but I am sure hoping the Democrats and particularly your Chris do well in the mid terms. My thoughts are with you on this very exciting day - I know that no matter what the outcome, your family will continue to work for justice and all that makes both our countries places that are good for ALL citizens.
Good luck and enjoy the day - what a wonderful and exciting opportunity!

Ali, if I can respond to your statement that you are "trying to keep it all in perspective and know that whatever happens it will be for something good."
The reason for this is because you and Chris are passionate, intelligent, and caring people. You will always make good of whatever happens in your lives. Whatever influence you are able to have on your community will always be positive and wonderful.
I hope Chris wins, but either way, I look forward to hearing what you two decide to do with the chanages that come!

So excited for your family. :) You are so right about change. Chris impacted change by getting out there and making a difference. Taking the race to a higher level and raising the bar on what Oregon citizens should expect. :) That is amazing.

I thought of you and your family this morning. Wondering how much last minute stuff Chris would be doing. It's a busy day for us as well, but in a different way. My husband covers the elections. It's going to be a late late night for him.
Good Luck!

I was up early this morning helping to set-up a triple precinct poll site on the college campus where I work. It was a busy morning, but in spite of it all, I thought of your family and how exciting of a day it is for all of you.
I hope Oregonians in your district realize how fortunate they are to have a candidate like Chris to vote for and do their civic duty -- and especially that Chris is declared the winner!

Hi to the Edwards family:)
I've been thinking of you and your family all morning, Ali. I saw signs for our local election on the way to bringing Lowell to his Autism Day treatment program and was actually moved to tears thinking about how this has got to be one of the biggest days of your life. I am so rooting for Chris from all the way over here in Minnesota!!!!! Have a wonderful day. Hope you can enjoy every moment. xoxo
