Why is it?
Tags:Why is it that you never really realize how much stuff you have until you have to move?
I consider myself as someone who is good at purging. Good at getting rid of stuff I am not using. But man, we have a lot of stuff packed into this little place. And don't even get me started on the amount of stuff in the garage. Yikes. I was over at the new place today and right now (since we have not moved in yet LOL) I can fit my car in there so rather than having to carry boxes into the house out in the rain I can just do it from inside the garage - talk about awesome.
The wireless and the cable and the phone are getting hooked up at the new place tomorrow so my computer will be moving...that pretty much makes it official.
Notice the beer on my desk? Totally needing that after today. Had a few of those moments where I just wanted to cry because I was feeling so overwhelmed. At those moments I jumped on the computer, zoned out for a few, and then got back into packing mode again.
I am planning on moving most of my studio stuff over to the new place myself. Most of it is in baskets already and I retain control over just where it goes. Ah, control. My friend. Continually working on letting go...
And a scrap update: the Oregon Scrapbook Convention is coming up in March and I am going to be teaching a class this year called Discover Home. Sign ups will be on the CK site soon.

Brings back memories. We moved on December 14th, four years ago. We even moved our tree.....had the movers pack it in the truck. We set it up in the middle of our emply living room and would throw an ornament on every time we passed by.

I'm so there with you, Ali! Don't cry! :)
I just moved into our new home on fairly short notice (long story, but it was ready much, much sooner than we were told). And at the same time we had to try to sell or rent out our current home! With the holidays looming, I wanted to cry on a daily basis and sometimes did. LOL! Just remember...it is okay.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas in your new home!

We've been moving every six months for a while and each time I'm amazed at what we have that we haven't touched since the previous move. We're pitching a lot these days. Reminding myself a lot that the picture of the thing is better than having the thing itself sometimes.
I would love to one day just move within the same town. Our last move was between neighboring states (4 hours) and the move before that was from Africa. The move next month is to the in laws and then to Asia.

I am totally sympathizing with you and hoping your move is going well today! We moved into this house 5 years ago after living in our old home for 25 years, raising 5 children there, and you cannot believe how much stuff we got rid of. I think the people at the Salvation Army just cringed when we'd pull up with another truck load of stuff. Good luck and I think you're doing the right thing by moving your own craft things.

Wishing you all the best. We moved this time last year and my priority was to get the tree up so we could have our 1st Christmas in our new house! The rest slowly fell into place, but it was sooo nice to have a place to call home, that was truly ours! I too was the only one to move my scrapbook stuff. Funny how we are so particular about that! Hoping we will get to move again within this next year so we can be closer to our family. Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. A few beers help to make it all better. :) tee hee.

Congratulations on your new home! It looks fabulous, from what you've posted here. Love it, especially the closets! I'm glad to hear that Simon has done so well... wow! I hope you're getting settled in before Christmas. Enjoy your first in your new home. Merry Christmas to the Edwards family. :)
