AEzine Challenge: one little word
Tags:From Issue Eleven of the AEzine: This week your challenge is to create something, anything, that celebrates your chosen word for 2007. Maybe a layout. Maybe a blog posting or a journal entry or a simple post-it note that you put somewhere you can see it each day. Make sure to journal about why you chose your word and what it means for you - the more you let yourself explore the more benefit you will receive in the end.
I am hoping I was able to jot all of your words down - the response has been phenomenal. Please let me know if I missed yours, of if you are adding a new one today I will catch it later on and add it onto the master list of amazing, wonderful, inspirational words.
Here you go:
Wow. I am seriously wowed by this list. By the creative and touching and tough words you chose. By your willingness to do something. So proud of each and every one of you.
As for me, I have my word (peace) up on my wall in my studio and a magnet on my fridge that reads:
My Mom also sent me a reminder of the Prayer of St. Francis today...it fits in with what I want for myself this year (and in my entire life):
I am so looking forward to seeing how you have been inspired to creatively document your word.
Happy Monday!

WOW! There are so many words already, can't wait to check out everyone's work.
I made a bookmark about my word - AWARE. AWARE of what is going on around me, AWARE that I should take things for granted, AWARE that I can change what I don't like. Here it is : http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=1055749
Thanks for the great challenge! Can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve. Can't wait to hear about your day - congrats to you, Chris and sweet Simon.

Hi Ali! First of all, congrats to Chris and I also wish you and your family a great day today when Chris begins his new journey!
My word is SIMPLIFY - I posted a cool pic on my blog, where I took a picture of the word. For now, that very image is on my desktop background, where I spend a great deal of time each day! Definitely a way to remind me to SIMPLIFY in all aspects of my life!
Thank you for all that you do!

My word is patience. The word of the year. As we wait for baby (adoption), as we have no control over these things, as I seek peace over stress, as I have a lot of change coming -- must find patience.
Thank you. Wonder what I'll create...hmmm.

Ali, this is just the most incredible idea. I have read so many self-help, inspirational, and spiritual books, and it is this simple idea that is truly changing my life. I feel like it is the first thing that I can really make a part of my daily life and have accessible to me, you know? It's only one word - not a whole set of rules, not a whole paragraph to memorize, not some forced philosophy that isn't really mine - just something I know I need that I can remind myself of when I need it. I chose "relax" as my word - not only because I need to make more downtime in my life, but mostly because I tend to get very anxious and obsessive about things. And in the few days since this has been my word, I feel so much better. Situations that would have upset me for a long time have come and gone, and I've been able to move on. Even silly things that would have bothered me are becoming less stressful. I can't tell you how much this approach means to me, and I thank you for sharing it with all of us.

Hey Ali!
The word that came to me was "BECOME". Not sure what this will mean for me but I'm going to think on it and see what happens. :)
Have a wonderful day!

The first word that popped into my mind when i read your great challenge was "TIME". My second thought was "Oh no not the word TIME?!, TIME is what keep struggling with these days." And then i realized it will be exactly this word that i'm focussing on this coming year. To explore "TIME" in more positive ways than i tend to do now. I'll do a post on my blog later today (When i find the time ;-)))) Thanks Ali, for constantly inspiring so many of us!

Hi Ali my word is FAMILY. The below is what is on my blog! Met you in Sydney Australia at Kiwi Scraps. I am really inspired by you. Thanks
My Word
A favourite Blog of mine is Ali Edwards, not only is she a great scrapbooker, she is inspirational and has really great values which I admire. Last year Ali began a tradition of choosing one word for herself each January, a word to meditate and reflect on, a word to focus on as as she went about her daily life. Last year her word was Play and this year it is Peace.
Here is a little prayer of St. Francis from Ali's Blog, which I loved:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
I love and am inspired by being a Life Artist, capturing life in the form of Art, isn't that what Scrapbooking is all about, preserving life for generations to come and expressing life through creativity.
Today I start the same tradition, this year my word is FAMILY.
Family is something I am always reflecting on. What is Family? Is Family always blood related? What constitutes a Family?
I am the youngest of six girls born eight years after the fifth (my poor father, rest his soul) my mum's first born was a boy whom she lost at six month's then six girls! Do you think they were trying for a boy!!
My father passed away when I was seventeen, my sisters are much older, my mum is now 82. My family are my life long friends and their three grown children and we live in harmony (another word I thought of having! so many words to choose from). I am a sole parent of two boys.
So once again I ask "What constitues family?"

Hi Ali,
My word for the year is "SHINE". Inspiration was the light outside while running on Sat, CZ's blog entry about her friend, and Church on Sun. It just all fell into place. Hoping to work on it today! Thanks for the idea.

The Prayer of St. Francis always brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing it this morning. Good luck to your family on your big day today....will be thinking about you and the awesome undertaking it must be! I've blogged about my word....ACTION. I plan to start a journal as well, but still in the process of moving the scrap area. Until then, the blog will have to do :) Thank you for the push Ali.
