AEzine Challenge: one little word
Tags:From Issue Eleven of the AEzine: This week your challenge is to create something, anything, that celebrates your chosen word for 2007. Maybe a layout. Maybe a blog posting or a journal entry or a simple post-it note that you put somewhere you can see it each day. Make sure to journal about why you chose your word and what it means for you - the more you let yourself explore the more benefit you will receive in the end.
I am hoping I was able to jot all of your words down - the response has been phenomenal. Please let me know if I missed yours, of if you are adding a new one today I will catch it later on and add it onto the master list of amazing, wonderful, inspirational words.
Here you go:
Wow. I am seriously wowed by this list. By the creative and touching and tough words you chose. By your willingness to do something. So proud of each and every one of you.
As for me, I have my word (peace) up on my wall in my studio and a magnet on my fridge that reads:
My Mom also sent me a reminder of the Prayer of St. Francis today...it fits in with what I want for myself this year (and in my entire life):
I am so looking forward to seeing how you have been inspired to creatively document your word.
Happy Monday!

Thanks so much for this challenge Ali! Definitley not something I would have done otherwise and now I'm so glad I've given this some thought and created a daily reminder about this word. I've already noticed a difference in the last few days by just being more aware of a single word!

My word for 2007 is STAND; Stand in the Gap (for those who need lifted up); Stand and truly impact my world through service (Comes from the fabulous Micheal W. Smith); What am I going to stand for today? What am I going to stand for this week? What is my life going to stand for?; Stand in awe of the one who gave it all;
I'll blog it this week - thanks for the inspiration. Susan

Wow!! What a list. I had to read it several times and just think about the strength of each word. What powerful people to think of such words.
Just wanted to add my word: PRAISE
Keep up the amazing work, Ali. You truly are an inspiration to us all!

I've recently started reading your blog--your art is a style I love and fits the style of what I would someday love to create. I always joke that my dream job would be to be a collage artist.
But for this year, my word is WORK. I love working in my field and in my job in particular, but years of infertility, followed by the blessed birth of an energetic boy (now 2.5) have split the attention I can give to work into a gazillion fragments. My focus for this year is to excel at my job, while not losing sight of my precious family time.
As Kahlil Giban said: "Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that
you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with
joy."
Oh, and so far I have no blog, and my word is only posted on a note over my computer. But hopefully, this will also be the year I start to unleash that inner collage artist. Thanks for inspiring me!

So many great words, so many great stories, so much inspiration, and not enough time to read it all. I already posted my personal word, organize. I'm in the process of moving myself, so I couldn't create anything spectacular, but I did blog about it and used some letter stickers to spell it out on my computer monitor.
After some more reading today I think I'm going to add a word for our family also, comfort. Being comfortable with ourselves, our surroundings, and each other. That's our family goal this year. Once we're in our new house and I can get my stuff out I will create something to remind us all of that word.
Thanks again for the inspiration

Wonderful challenge...really made me thing about this year...and why I chose the word WIFE. Lots of plans...and the first action item was to blog about it so there would be a sense of accountability. Thanks so much...and PEACE be unto you!

Here's mine
REACH
...out to friends
...for the attainable
... for the thought-to-be unattainable
...for the finish line (10K in JUNE!)
...for the stars
...for one of my dozen lipglosses
...into my soul
To stretch myself
To get in touch with
To attain
To accomplish
To REACH

My word is PERSISTANCE. Not only do I work full time, but I basically run a company and a family and a household. It's a lot to deal with on a regular basis and every time I feel exhausted, I just keep thinking that I have to persist. This is a perfect word for me for 2007! Are you seriously able to keep up with all of these posts? good luck and thanks for all of the inspiration.

After much thought and podering over many words it was Cathy Z's posting of the Marianne Williamson quote that helped me find my word. FEAR. Thank you for the challenge. It should be an interesting exploration!
