Loved reading some of the responses that have already been posted.

We are going to be celebrating Simon's birthday tonight with a little party. I ended up getting stuck and delayed yesterday, not making it home until around 11pm. All is good now (yesterday, not so good). Mom is here and we have been having fun wrapping presents, frosting cupcakes that Chris baked yesterday, and getting things ready for a fun evening. Photos to come!
Thanks so much for all the comments yesterday and to those of you that made donations to Autism Speaks yesterday in his honor, thank you so very much.

And want to see some of the silent auction items (money was raised through a silent auction + a raffle)? Go here.

What a great idea! It was neat taking a mental inventory of the supplies I always keep at hand, and can't do without.

Glad to hear you made it home safely, and hope Simon's party was full of good times.

My essentials:
Fiskars self-healing cutting mat: love the
grid lines
Provo Craft paper cutter: I think I may
actually have bought this because I like
the color!
3 pair of scissors: large for general
cutting, small sewing scissors for
detail cutting and Fiskars non-stick for
cutting tape
Pioneer Photo Memory Mounting Tape 1/2"
wide: I seem to be adhesively challenged
with other products, especially glue
sticks (ironically I teach pre-k and
use glue sticks weekly!)but with this
stuff I never have to worry if
something will fall off the page!
C-Thru ruler w/ grid lines: once again,
love those grid lines. Makes it so easy
on those lopsided days!
Pencil and white art eraser
Tweezers: fingers never get in the way
Cardstock
Black pen
Ink pads
My husband's Nikon D50: this was his
father's day gift (wonder if I actually
bought it for me?)
My computer and printer: I print my own
photos
Inspiration: Where else but in life can
you find such beautiful inspiration?
Want to do a page on this, but have not had the time yet. Spent the weekend cleaning and mudding kitchen walls.
I've also been doing a lot of looking and thinking about my past layouts and have come to the conclusion that I haven't found "my style" yet. I think I may have figured it out though.(it's feeling good!) It will be interesting to see which of my essentials will change, if any will at all.
Thanks for the challenge. Hope Simon has a wonderful B-day!
Oh, I almost forgot. Kim asked about a version of "Over the Rainbow" Not sure which she was talking about, but a great one is Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Makes me feel so good and happy I make sure I listen to it on my way to work every am. Enjoy

Essentials in the supply realm are trimmer, hermafix, cardstock, paper, photos pen computer camera. All a bit ordinary.
Having a LIFE is a biggie. the everyday life, the eventful life. the thoughtful life. (some of my favourite pages, especially of others, are those that reveal deeper thoughts and concepts than just an event)
Having spent a year living in a d.i.y. renovation with a new baby, 6yo and 4yo and a kitchen, laundry and dining room all squeezed into one 3mx2.5m room.... I have found the other under-rated but real essentials are TIME and SPACE. Poor baby has not a page scrapped as yet...soon to fix that one tho.

First of all a belated birthday wish for Simon. Being 5 is always a great time!
Since I seem to be the only one here with no blog, I'll post my challenge list of essentials:
Computer for journaling/photo printing
Zig pens for journaling
basic cardstock
paper trimmer
scissors
adhesive - glue sticks/adhesive squares
corner rounder
my box of brads
my basket of ribbon/fibers
acrylic alphabet stamps/ink pads
If that's all I had to use, I think I could still create!
Sue
PS This week I made a journal to celebrate my word - Inspire! Thanks Ali, for the idea to focus on one word.
