Loved reading some of the responses that have already been posted.

We are going to be celebrating Simon's birthday tonight with a little party. I ended up getting stuck and delayed yesterday, not making it home until around 11pm. All is good now (yesterday, not so good). Mom is here and we have been having fun wrapping presents, frosting cupcakes that Chris baked yesterday, and getting things ready for a fun evening. Photos to come!
Thanks so much for all the comments yesterday and to those of you that made donations to Autism Speaks yesterday in his honor, thank you so very much.

And want to see some of the silent auction items (money was raised through a silent auction + a raffle)? Go here.

Hi Ali !
i'm a very young scrapbooker, I began only few months ago and i do not have so much time for this pleasure but if I had to look for my essentials, I will make that list
1st-CameraS
2nd-Computer (with its printer)
3rd-Cardstock
4th-Patterned paper
5th-Scissors
6th-Adhesives
But this list should change when I'll feel easier on creation...
I'm late but I wanted to sing
"Joyeux Aniversaire Simon, joyeux anniversaire, tatatatatatata...."

i've had to delay my kids parties a day due to illnesses or travel problem. children are unbelievably forgivable.
i posted my list on my site (http://noappropriatebehavior.blogspot.com/2007/01/mahna-mahna-de-do-do-do-doo-mahna.html - whew, that's long).

REALLY liked your class "Today You" at Split Rock. Also, so glad to be a part of raising the $$$$ for Autism - there was not a dry eye at my table when you accepted the donation. Happy Birthday to Simon!

Great question, and something I have been thinking of lately. Especially since my word this year is "simplify". My essentials are: good scissors, my cutter/trimmer, Kokuyo adhesive, cardstock, patterned paper, my Quickutz and photo corners.

Hi Ali
Bet Simon just loved his party. My Mr 5 is so into them he is telling me almost every week what he wants to do at his next one (not until July..!)
Just wanted to pop in and give thanks for two things 1: for your great book on patterned papers - really loving it and it's giving lots of inspiration and 2: for your article for busy scrappers. It's a great reminder to make time for our passions :)

essentials:
1) my son -- he is muse #1
2) my husband -- a creative eye, muse #1a, and the photog of the family
3) photo printer -- when i need a pic i haven't printed
4) sharpie extra fine point markers -- i can't hardly journal with anything else
5) cutter bee scissors and tweezers
6) scrap cardstock -- even without a whole sheet, i can always find something
7) space -- i have "scrap sprawl" issues, so it is essential i have a wide place to play
8) courage -- my layouts are usually better when i work outside the box, but i can hardly get myself to do it (e.g. i just cut up one of my favorite pieces of patterned Bohemia paper because two sheets of 12x12 was overkill. turned out awesome
9) a friend -- scrapping's best with a buddy
