Back to reality.
Tags:So here we go, day one of our new "regular" routine.
- I let Simon sleep late since yesterday was such an early morning and late night. When he did wake up he was in a good mood, had some breakfast while watching Mickey Mouse Club House and was then ready to go to school (this is a very good thing). Tomorrow = no sleeping late and tonight = early bedtime.
- Spilled coffee all over my desktop and onto my khakis. Hate that = grumpy. Must get over it.
- Found where Lily (our dog) threw-up yesterday when she was inside the entire day while we were gone. Under my computer desk of course = grumpy. Must get over it.
- Lily just about scared the Fed Ex man to death by bolting out the door. She is one of those black labs that has a really mean bark and no control over how excited she gets when the doorbell rings...and then as soon as she gets near the person she cowers down and does a lick-attack. Great as a guard dog. Not so great as an attack dog. Felt so bad for the guy - he dropped everything he had in his hands. Talk about an occupational hazard.
- Everyday life = gotta love it.
- A to-do list that is a mile long. Must get on it. (Can you see why peace is my word?)
Good news of the day:
My friend Jeffrey has a new book out today available on Amazon: LIttle Gold Book of Yes! Attitude. The cool thing is that this book is the first that my sister edited on her own (and my Mom actually gave some input into it as well). Chris and I got an advanced copy of this book and totally enjoyed it - lots of great truths in there about how your attitude has an impact on everything. Also just saw on Jessica's blog that the book has hit number one today on Amazon. Awesome Jeffrey & Jessica!
And those words - man, so cool. Later today I will go in and adjust the list to reflect all the new words that have been added. I never imagined that this would catch on like it has. Look for a new challenge related to the one little word concept in tomorrow's AEzine.

Just wanted to share my word...I was thinking about it in bed last night for a while and this one stuck for some reason:
ADAPT
I am going to be going through a lot of changes this year..graduating college and entering the "real" world, moving across the country for the third time in three years, and getting used to the idea of settling down somewhere. I need to remind myself that everything will not go as planned and that I am going to have to adapt to new situations, people, and places. But we are human and adapting is something we do very well.

you are so funny, Ali...made me chuckle, talking about being grumpy - my hubby's favourite word for me and our son when we are out of sorts....and then talking about Lily - UPS and FedEx drivers out here carry dog biscuits for our girls when they 'greet' them...and I so agree with your quote about everyday life! I enjoy your blog daily...thanks.

Oh the dog story is funny! My dog goes "bezerky" when the doorbell rings too. That poor fed ex dude! Only thing is my dog is a little shih tzu/so she harmless too. Just annoying! (maybe that should be my word, "bezerky" I kinda made it up on the spot). I really enjoyed your post about state capitol and that whole day. A peek in the life of....a new state rep. Super fun! Glad to see it went smoothly. Keep up with all that you do/your inspiring!

Congrats on the big do for Chris Edwards! Well done...
I am studying up for American citizenship, and it helps me to now know at least one person from afar in the House of representatives. Which should be legislative branche/power if I studied my Citizenship for Dummies book right...
Is InternetAfar really AFAR????

Ali,
I cracked up and laughed out loud reading this post about you being grumpy. I can SO relate to those days when EVERYTHING seems to be messed up. And the poor fedex guy....I bet he is a little grumpy today too ;-D

I wanted to add my word to the list:
PRIORITIES
When I have a million things to do and my children want me to "Look, Mommy!" I am going to remember what really matters. The dirty dishes can wait.

So nice to know that there are good people who get elected to government. I know it will be stressful on your family. Thank you for being willing to make the sacrifices that will come with being Mrs. Representative. Congratulations to you and your husband too for being willing to do this political work!

Congratulations to your family. Service is a calling and thank God for those who answer it. I know your support will be invaluable to your husband.
I've been enjoying your blog for some time now and really appreciate the time you take to put your thoughts out there for all of us to share. Your newsletter is great and always provides food for thought and creativity.
I have decided that my word for this year will be "open". Open mind, open heart, open eyes, open ears, … open to opportunities, open to happiness, open to learning, … .
Peace to you.

My words are:
Joy
Discipline
Experience/Stepping Out
So, far, I am attacking Discipline, Joy and Experience/Stepping Out! I am loving these words; now, I am going to find a verse from the Bible to go with them!!! :-) Thank you, as always! Congrats on being Mr. and Mrs. Representative! :-) Also, I saw Jeffrey's book at Borders and thought of you and saying to myself; I know his SISTER-IN-LAW!!! How cool is that? Have a blessed and peaceful evening! Daphne
