Back to reality.
Tags:So here we go, day one of our new "regular" routine.
- I let Simon sleep late since yesterday was such an early morning and late night. When he did wake up he was in a good mood, had some breakfast while watching Mickey Mouse Club House and was then ready to go to school (this is a very good thing). Tomorrow = no sleeping late and tonight = early bedtime.
- Spilled coffee all over my desktop and onto my khakis. Hate that = grumpy. Must get over it.
- Found where Lily (our dog) threw-up yesterday when she was inside the entire day while we were gone. Under my computer desk of course = grumpy. Must get over it.
- Lily just about scared the Fed Ex man to death by bolting out the door. She is one of those black labs that has a really mean bark and no control over how excited she gets when the doorbell rings...and then as soon as she gets near the person she cowers down and does a lick-attack. Great as a guard dog. Not so great as an attack dog. Felt so bad for the guy - he dropped everything he had in his hands. Talk about an occupational hazard.
- Everyday life = gotta love it.
- A to-do list that is a mile long. Must get on it. (Can you see why peace is my word?)
Good news of the day:
My friend Jeffrey has a new book out today available on Amazon: LIttle Gold Book of Yes! Attitude. The cool thing is that this book is the first that my sister edited on her own (and my Mom actually gave some input into it as well). Chris and I got an advanced copy of this book and totally enjoyed it - lots of great truths in there about how your attitude has an impact on everything. Also just saw on Jessica's blog that the book has hit number one today on Amazon. Awesome Jeffrey & Jessica!
And those words - man, so cool. Later today I will go in and adjust the list to reflect all the new words that have been added. I never imagined that this would catch on like it has. Look for a new challenge related to the one little word concept in tomorrow's AEzine.

Ali,
I've just been so excited to get "reconnected" to your awesome vibe. You are a huge inspiration to me. I haven't been creating scrapbooks lately, but working on an art journal has totally got me into the creative spirit. I have no fear and it's all OK!
Thank you so much for everything!

My word is WORK, but not entirely in the traditional sense of the word. Here is my first layout called My life's work, which is a play on the words. I made this into sort of a resolution '07 thing.

Your dog sounds just like George my three y/o black lab,, great guard dog when the dorrbell rings, barks up a storm. Not so great when face to face just licking people like crazy.

Your Lily sounds like my Red. I too have a huge black lab that does the same thing. All the kids in the neighborhood love him. He's so big and mean looking but is more gentle than anything. Gotta love our pets. Congrats again to Chris and to you. I'm sure you are so proud of him. Simon sure is growing. I love reading about his day to day experiences.

I've never posted here before, but I've been reading for a long time. Thanks so much for all of your inspiration and perspective. I noticed that my word wasn't chosen by anyone and I'm a little surprised. There are so many words! My word for 2007 is DECIDE!
It takes me forever to make decisions, even small ones. But "decide" is more than that, it's deciding to have a better attitude about things, deciding to have more confidence in myself and my art, deciding to have better relationships. I'm getting married this year and also need to decide on a honeymoon spot! :) Just deciding to be a better me all around, because I'm the only one that can DECIDE that for me.
Thanks again, and congrats on all that you've been blessed with recently.

Just adding that I shared your newsletter on my blog and most of my friends are not the scrappy-type. They loved your 'word for 2007' suggestion.
It took me a week... but my word is LISTEN.
I'll be listening to lots of little cries in another month or so when we add TWINS to our busy house of 2 boys- ages 4 and 2!
thanks, Ali, for inspiring us, as always. even with spilt coffee on your khaki's.
