Back to reality.
Tags:So here we go, day one of our new "regular" routine.
- I let Simon sleep late since yesterday was such an early morning and late night. When he did wake up he was in a good mood, had some breakfast while watching Mickey Mouse Club House and was then ready to go to school (this is a very good thing). Tomorrow = no sleeping late and tonight = early bedtime.
- Spilled coffee all over my desktop and onto my khakis. Hate that = grumpy. Must get over it.
- Found where Lily (our dog) threw-up yesterday when she was inside the entire day while we were gone. Under my computer desk of course = grumpy. Must get over it.
- Lily just about scared the Fed Ex man to death by bolting out the door. She is one of those black labs that has a really mean bark and no control over how excited she gets when the doorbell rings...and then as soon as she gets near the person she cowers down and does a lick-attack. Great as a guard dog. Not so great as an attack dog. Felt so bad for the guy - he dropped everything he had in his hands. Talk about an occupational hazard.
- Everyday life = gotta love it.
- A to-do list that is a mile long. Must get on it. (Can you see why peace is my word?)
Good news of the day:
My friend Jeffrey has a new book out today available on Amazon: LIttle Gold Book of Yes! Attitude. The cool thing is that this book is the first that my sister edited on her own (and my Mom actually gave some input into it as well). Chris and I got an advanced copy of this book and totally enjoyed it - lots of great truths in there about how your attitude has an impact on everything. Also just saw on Jessica's blog that the book has hit number one today on Amazon. Awesome Jeffrey & Jessica!
And those words - man, so cool. Later today I will go in and adjust the list to reflect all the new words that have been added. I never imagined that this would catch on like it has. Look for a new challenge related to the one little word concept in tomorrow's AEzine.

Allie. Thankyou for the challenge.
My word for this year is ORGANISE. Organise my thoughts, my house, my chores, my study. I started with a summerclean (Too late for a springclean here in Oz.) I orgainsed those messy drawers that should only have 1 purpose but end up having several. The Present Wrapping Drawer - sticky tape, scissors, ribbon. The Stationery Drawer - pens, stapler, more scissors, pencils, blank exercise books etc. The Gadget Drawer - batteries, chargers, rechargers etc. It feel so good to finally put this job behind me.
My 8 year old daughter also has a word this year. Rachel's word is WORK - work at home, at school, at athletics at dance, at being a good friend.
Again Thankyou
Ange

My life has been difficult and I have made terrible decisions of which I want to take responsibility for. I need healing in 2007. Thank you Ali for making me search inward. I have been thinking of something far greater than some "I will stick to my diet and exercise regimen" resolution this year. This year, I am fighting for my life. If I don't, no one else will.

Ali, love your idea on AEzine for the word challenge. My word is RESTORE. That is to restore balance, health, and all that is really important. Came across this site: http://www.rhymezone.com which gives quotes, definitions, rhymes etc for words.

Hi Ali...read all the time but never posted before...read the one word description thing and the first thing that came to my mind was understanding...I thought...that's silly...surely you can come up with something a little more classy! I tried...and the thing I came up with was...understanding! I want to see people in a new light this year...realizing that we are all going through things...some happy some sad and everything in between...I want to have instant empathy because I don't really know what folks are facing on a daily basis...I also have 5 great kids and all so very different...they all need a different kind of understanding...and my husband...has a traveling job...sometimes difficult...I want to be more understanding...of even things I don't know anything of! And for all my life, as far as I can remember, that is one thing I have always wanted from my many relationships...I'm speechless here...I can't believe I actually tuned in to something I have wanted and needed...it's running deeply and leaving me speechless...so with that, I will end

Read your AEZine this morning-I have a suggestion for when you get stuck-if I just can't come up with anything-I scraplift. I haven't stopped scrapping completely and it will sometimes jumpstart the design process for me. Just a thought.

my word for this year: Blessed. Too often I focus on the negatives and forget to focus on all the blessings God has given me. Thanks for your uplifting blog!

PS LOve the lilies in your photo. Winter with fresh flowers is 'the best'! I try to buy a bouquet every other week and it helps to brighten my living room.

Just wanted to get my word out there, it's forgive. What an awesome challenge Ali, thank you doesn't seem big enough for the inspiration it has given me! I think I'm a little late on my word layout challenge but here it is...

Hoping that Wednesday is a more PEACE-ful day! We all have days like that so just know that it WILL pass. Oh I forgot to mention my word of the year... it's already on the list though... CONNECT. I thought of it immediately after hearing the one-word challenge. Thanks for challenging us to be better, more thoughtful people (as well as becoming better scrappers).

I'm so glad you posted about that book, because my word for the year is attitude.
I've decided that I'm not thrilled with my current attitude, but I have the means to change it.
So I shall.
I might have to check this out though. :)

sharing my word for 2007: PASS
for me, it is all about: PASSing it on and PASSING on it.
[my layout is in the works.]
i am hoping that my word can actively shape the life i lead in '07 by reminding me to pass things on to others - whether they be clothes that don't fit or i don't wear, a lovely book i've read that a friend might enjoy or a smile onto a stranger. i am also hoping that my word will remind me to pass on accepting all invitations, all extra jobs here at work, etc. i too often say "yes" to friends and others when they ask me to hang out or go shopping or do this or that and i want to learn how to graciously pass on these offers every now and then. i hope it helps me to enjoy more free, quiet time (especially on evenings & weekends) which i just love.
thanks, ali.

So much fun to see how many people have taken up your challenge to choose a word for themselves. I have as well and it's one that already on the list, but it's SEEK. This was somwhow the first thing that came to me and I thought about changing it and have decided to go with my gut and take me where it leads me...thanks!

Ali - I haven't sent my word in yet, and don't know if it's a duplicate (been a little caught up in other stuff & haven't read them all yet). Anyway - it's "smile". The coolest thing is that I think of it frequently throughout the day and actually smile. This has to be a good thing, right? I was finding that with all of the responsibilities and timelines, etc. I was forgetting to just smile. And smiling seems to lead to better relationships, good feelings inside (endorphins?) and most of all -- feeling the urge to be playful.
Thanks again - you are life changing!
