A correction.

In my excitement and haste putting the fundraising badge together yesterday I made a mistake in what I wrote within the badge. I meant to write that something along these lines: "Boys are four times more likely to develop autism than girls." (Thanks to Karen and the other commenters that pointed this out.)

I have tried to make an adjustment to the badge but it looks like this version of the badge is uneditable. Until I can edit the badge I am going to add a note over there above that addresses this issue.

I so want to be putting out accurate information and I greatly appreciate you guys for helping me.

Thanks so much for all the donations so far - awesome, awesome, awesome.

Ali, I'm sure anyone who wants to donate to this cause won't change their mind because of an incorrect statement. What you are doing is incredible. This is the best thing about being well-known... using it for a great cause!

Thank you so much for bringing awareness of autism to the scrapbooking community. My almost 4 year old daughter (one of the less common girls with autism) was diagnosed with Autistic Disorder at the age of 33 months. We must find a cure!

    Ali,
I just want to thank you.(for making people more aware)
My 4 yr old daughter was just diagnosed with PDD-NOS this week. I am not sure where to begin or what to do next, but I will start by reading everything I can get my hands (including the websites and books you have listed) I intend to become my daughters advocate and do everything possible to help her.
Thankyou for being a role model to mothers like me. You have given me a place to begin and made me realize that the label my daughter has received is just a small part of who she is. I will not let her be defined by it.
God bless you and your family.

I was wondering about that! I'm no scholar on the issue, but it seems like every autistic child I know is a boy. I did know one autistic girl, who was severely so. A cure sure would be nice. Or at least more information on ways to help. Thanks Ali.

I had a feeling that is what you wanted to say--keep up the fantastic job(s)--mom, wife, scrapbooker, artist, person on a mission to help with a cause --
You have helped me to understand this illness more and also to view it thru the eyes of a normal person and family--not as research statistics and facts--
    carry on!!

    Ali,
Once again you and your family are making a huge difference in the world. I do not have a child effected but I am a child advocate for the Department of Health in Florida. I have added your link to my blog so that people I know that do not scrapbook (Shocking-I know) can read about your efforts.
    Good luck & God Bless!!

Since it looks like you have already raised more money than any of the celebs except Keven listed on sixdegrees.org I bet you will be able to make changes to the badge soon. It would be nice if we could make custom badges that tied all donation counts to yours but had our personal stories.

Hi Ali, I got your font CD... Sadly enough I find that ali-ism's are all in wmf format, which I can't read with my mac. They are windoze files....
That is strange as I thought you were a mac person, so why would you only put windoze on the CD????
The fonts were OK, I got those and they are lovely...
I also put a link to your blog on mine...
Thanks for being such a constant inspiration to me...

Hmm. I can't figure out how to get the badge to appear on my site, though I'd like to spread the word.
I've got the link though. I guess since I don't know blog code that will be good enough.
Aha! Someone else did it. I will ask her! :)

I must add... there IS a cure for autism. It's called Chelation. My daughter has been through the program and went from completely non-verbal to normal in 1.5 years. She lost her autism label in the school district just last week.
The reason it's so much more prevailent in boys is because mercury binds very tight with testosterone. Since boys have more testosterone, it's more likely to develop in boys.
