Gotta love...
Tags:that the school just called to let me (us) know that Simon is doing just fine, that he is doing everything that the other kids are doing, and it is all ok.
Just a teeny, tiny (all right, a really big) sigh of relief and a couple of "thank you so much for calling" before letting her off the phone.
Maybe now I can get some work done :).

What an awesome school/teacher to call and let you know everything was OK...
Now the big question...He wants to ring the doorbell... Is someone going to be taking his picture as he rings it? (reinact it later?) I along with tons of others can't wait to read about his day!!!
WAY TO GO SIMON!

Ok, do me a favor, Ali... Call her back and ask her if they have room for one more. I will start packing!
Seriously, that is so cool of them. :)

I am so with you. My older son (the one with Autism) had his first day of Kindergarten yesterday. It went so well - far better than what we had prepared for. It just shows that these little guys (and girls) are amazing, and that they can handle and learn much more than we might think!

My eyes have welled right up at the thought of Simon at school doing so beautifully. How wonderful. And how great of the school to call you - must be a fabulous place full of caring people. So thrilled for you all.

I am teary eyed just reading your post. My baby boy started 4K on Tuesday and my hormones are still all over the place!
His teacher sent pictures on the first day via email to all the parents. I sent her a note thanking her (how cool for me to get the "inside pictures" for his scrapbook). She wrote me back saying he had a great day. SNIFF
Today, again, more pictures of them outside playing. She purposely made sure to get every child and there is one of my son by himself, hamming it up. I love her for doing this. I feel less anxious now that I have seen him having fun with his new friends.
How come no one told me how emotional/gut-wrenching these first days of school are?
Looking forward to reading your next post!
P.

What a cool school he must go to. Wish the district around here was that good, unfortunately it's SO not.

Hi Ali,
OK, it's totally not the same situation but I'm sure it's the same "mommy feeling". My oldest started high school today. Came from a really small school where he was a "big deal" to a large high school out of our area where he doesn't really know anyone. My heart was heavy as he got out of the car to find have to find his own way. Wish his school would call to say he was OK.
Glad all is well with Simon!
