The 2nd day...
Tags:went great. I stayed in the window (wide open, sticking half my body out), waved to the driver, got a visual on Simon and watched how he stood up, walked to the door of the bus (loved seeing him standing there before the doors opened), stepped down the steps, and took off running toward the front door with a big smile on his face.
He rang the doorbell. I opened the door. "I home." he said.
Sigh. Love it.
Later on in the afternoon, as I worked on deducing what he did at school (no notebook set up for back + forth communication yet), we chatted just a bit about the bus and he told me that next time he wants me to come out to the bus. LOL - sounds like an opportunity for me to set the expectation (thanks Jen) that someone will always meet him outside at the bus (which totally makes sense especially here where we live with all the rain that will be coming eventually as it does every year).
Never a dull moment.

And isn't that what it is all about? How wonderful. All that love in two small words.

That's great, I'm glad you all made it fine through the first week, I know having an autistic child you just get use to the unexpected and go with the flow, one day at the time, big hugs, Rosa.

Ali,
I have "known" you first as a scrapbooker and love your style.
But, reading your blog and your day to day life with Simon is AWESOME. You and your husband are wonderful parents and Simon is thriving and it just makes one heart happy!

I don't comment often, but I wanted to say I'm glad Simon's first few days went okay.
My niece (who I live with) is 5 and started her first half-day of Senior Kindergarten in French Immersion (I'm in Canada) on Tuesday and goes back for her second day today.
You are SO right in that about how much trust parents and family put into this process - I'm so glad they took the time to call you on his first day. I love the picture of him with the aquarium!
Keep up the great work, you inspire me all the time :)
