Two things.
Tags:First, happy Tuesday (and happy September as well).
Second, this morning is the Open House at Simon's school. I am a bundle of excitement + nerves + can't-believe-he-is-old-enough-to-be-going-to-kindergarten thoughts.
Last night we celebrated with back-to-school brownies.
Open house today with his first full-day (+ a bus ride home to our doorstep) on Thursday. I think he is most excited about the bus bringing him home. Last night, in reference to coming home on the bus, he said to me: "Mom, no come outside" - which essentially means he wants to ring the doorbell.
A big week celebrating big steps.

Even though my daughter, Grace, has been going to preschool and then half a year of something akin to first grade in one of Eugene's Montessori schools, Tomorrow, will be her first day of Kindergarten at Ridgeline Montessori. She just said " i can't believe that it's going to be my first day of kindergarten tomorrow!" And then we all sang a couple of rounds of "Tomorrow". She's very excited which is good cause she wasn't very into the whole idea of changing schools at the beginning of the summer. So relieved and very glad that we made the decision to put her into one of the summer sessions at the new school. that really helped! Also, having the principal make a home visit helped as well.
How exciteing for Simon to be riding the bus!! kids just love that. makes them feel so grown-up. Something that Grace wishes that she could do. But her and dad will be riding their bikes and taking the city bus to school on most mornings which means leaving an hour early cause we live clear across town from her school. We're chalking it up to having many adventures!
Can't wait to see the pictures that you take!! Cause you've got to capture his face as he gets off the bus and then rings your bell...Big Boy that he is. All of you will be feeling so much pride!
Have Fun.

Boy can I relate! We sent Lukas off to Kindergarten this week as well - also riding the bus for the first time. What an enormous milestone it was for both he and I :) Good luck with Simon!

it's an exciting time. I love that he wants to ring the bell. When I got DS (age 10) his first house key last year I had to lock the front door so that he could unlock it. If it happened to be unlocked when he got home, he'd lock it and then unlock it. Aren't they funny monkies sometimes.

that is so cute. He's growing up and wanting his independence (at least until the first bump, bruise, or scare comes along) (LOL) I'm excited for you , I remember that feeling.

I was so pleased when my daughter's bus driver called me personally and let me know that they would be picking her up at the end of the driveway (instead of halfway into the neighbor hood). She also gave me extra time to take photos...my little one was off before I knew it! Sniff! Hope Simon has a smooth start to his Big Adventure :)
