Two things.
Tags:First, happy Tuesday (and happy September as well).
Second, this morning is the Open House at Simon's school. I am a bundle of excitement + nerves + can't-believe-he-is-old-enough-to-be-going-to-kindergarten thoughts.
Last night we celebrated with back-to-school brownies.
Open house today with his first full-day (+ a bus ride home to our doorstep) on Thursday. I think he is most excited about the bus bringing him home. Last night, in reference to coming home on the bus, he said to me: "Mom, no come outside" - which essentially means he wants to ring the doorbell.
A big week celebrating big steps.

What a thrill watching your little ones grow up. The best part is that you've documented (in one way or another) each milestone. You'll treasure these memories for a lifetime. Happy Tuesday - oh, and YAY for school!!!

So happy for your family....going to school is so exciting and new! My son started school too today....and changed his outfit 3 times before we left the house. So cute....he's so "grown up" now that he's 4. Congrats to Simon!

I totally know what you mean Ali! My daughter started Kindergarten in July! :) She is in year round. I couldn't believe that she was old enough to be in Kindergarten either!! Isn't it crazy how the time flies by?

Aww...HUGS! My little dude just started preschool and I felt pretty much the same (nerves + excitement + joy). These transitions from one phase of life to the next are so cool (for everyone)! Congratulations on the first day! Also, high-five to Simon!

Ali (and Chris): Wow! This must be so exciting/overwhelming/just plain fantastic for the two of you. Again, I'm a mom of one daughter on the spectrum. She will start kindergarten in the fall of 2008, and she is also in a special needs preschool setting. I believe I can feel your anticipation clear over here in Indpls.!! I am so happy for the three of you--Simon will dazzle them all--way to go little guy!!! Take Care--Ann***

That's so funny about the doorbell. Christopher gets dropped off at our door by the bus, but I have to get him off because he's in a safety harness, but he insists on ringing the doorbell before we come in the door. Part of our daily routine...Good luck Simon and Mama!!

Along with your camera, bring plenty of tissues! My daughter is in first grade this year, and I was just as much a mess as I was last year! As you watch them walk into class, it really hits home that they are growing so quickly! It's an amazing feeling to know that you prepared this little person to enter the "big world"! What an amazing milestone! I can't wait to see how you document this adventure!

I'm so excited for Simon! I just know he'll love his new school and teachers! What an exciting week this is. Have fun and enjoy the experience, Simon!
We'll be stopping by his class on our way out today, so my Emma can say hi to her old teachers. Maybe we'll see you there!

Take time and enjoy all these milestones. As the older they get the quicker they come. It seems like yesterday my 19 year old was off to his first day of big school as he called it. Let the tears flow, that is my one day to cry for joy and sadness. I will even cry on his first day of college this month. As my freshman in high schools said this year Mom please wait until you get out of the parking lot and I love you. WEll congrats on the first day of school.

OH! I can't wait to hear how Simon liked ringing the doorbell! That little sentence made me tear up! Today is the 1st day here in VA too, though my youngest does not start her last year of preschool until Tuesday next.
Hope it is a GREAT DAY for both of you.

go Simon!! I saw lots of teary eyed momma's of kindergarteners this morning at M's school. My 7th grader (how the heck did that happen?) was super excited this morning...Madison not so much! It will improve as we adjust our schedule.
Hugs Momma!
