There is so much or me to look forward to in the holiday season in Australia...Summer holidays with my children, lots of time outdoors, decorating our home ready for Christmas, preparing gifts, spending time with family and friends and the excitement and magical build up that the season brings with young and old alike. We are especially excited about our Christmas visitor who is coming to stay...my children's great nanna...we haven't had Christmas together for 4 years, these will be very precious times to remember.

I can't wait for my hubby to be off the whole 16 days with the kids and me. We are driving to PA to visit my sister's fam and meet their new little one. I also want to get ahead so i can enjoy every minute of it!

I love watching my children enjoy the same holiday traditions that I did. They make this time of year magic.

I am looking forward to the magic, the magic of Santa, the magic of decorations which bring smiles to faces, the magic of the smell of cinnamon in the house from baking cookies, the magic of snow, the magic of presents appearing under the tree, the magic of having family close to you to share the delights of the magic of Christmas.
I think Crhistmas is Magic :-)

I love the traditions that the holidays bring. Beginning on Thanksgiving through New Years we have so many things we look forward to every year. My husband and I enjoy all this as much as our kids - some traditions include our yearly trip to grandmas house for Thanksgiving which includes sledding, baking, and crafts; an ornament exchange the morning we decorate the tree, driving around to see the decorated homes, reading Christmas stories each night, etc. I could continue for a post that would be way too long! :)

My favorite part of the holiday season is Thanksgiving day. For the past couple of years it's been just the three of us (me, the dh, the son who is now 9) and at first I thought it would be lonely, but really, it's just perfect. I cook the whole meal--the big turkey, the dressing, the mashed potatoes and gravy, the yams, the cranberry sauce and a vegetable and I make two pies--pumpkin (for the dh and the boy) and pecan (for me). I relish the ritual of cooking the meal and I remember all the Thanksgivings I helped my dad prepare the meal. I treasure those memories.
In the time where I'm between cooking tasks, the three of us put up our Christmas tree and decorate it and the house, so that the setting is beautiful and filled with twinkly lights while we eat our meal.

    Hi Ali!
I am looking forward to having my whole family together! My parents, my brothers, and my family now include 18 people. :) We are all going to be together for Christmas, and for the first time ever we are going to do something new. We live in Colorado, and we are all going up to stay in a lodge in Winter Park. My kids can't wait!

I'm looking forward to having my small family all staying at my house. I'm not a huge decorator but I'm going to try harder this year. We are also making presents for people this year, so I'm thrilled about that.
The last thing I'm excited about is buying a real tree! We have always artificial trees but my husband and I agreed it was time (after 15 years) that we have a real one!!

My yearly cookie exchange with the girls - 12 years strong. Everyone goes home with 3 dozen cookies - a big enough group for a nice variety, but small enough so that making the cookies doesn't become overwhelming. Coupled with a delicious meal (we take turns hosting each year) and the mandatory champagne, it's a festive, relaxing get together.

Christmas to me is a season of celebrating, spending time with family, homemade cookies, the scent of pine in the air, fresh crisp outside air, the color red, snow, peace to all, memories, traditions, the advent calendar, our countdown calendar box filled with a treat daily and a quote or note for the day to my 3 children telling them how blessed I am to have them and reminders of what is to come such as cutting down our Christmas tree, baking or getting together with friends and family and how they can give to others during this time of year. I am most looking forward to making things for the holidays. I have let some of my usual holiday obligations go so that I can focus more on having fun and enjoying the process and spending time with my family.
