Three Things : Three Giveaways
A fun Tuesday giveaway:
1. Five gift certificates to Songbird Avenue. Here's what's cool about these guys: they are a digital scrapbooking-based online boutique
whose proceeds are donated to various charities each month in an effort
to give compassionately to those in need. Definitely a site to check out and support.
2. One November kit from Stampin With Steph (a Stampin Up independent demonstrator).
3. One November kit (designed by Stacy Julian) for Cocoa Daisy (you will receive this in early November).
To be entered into the drawing leave a comment below and let me know how you celebrate the fall season. Comments will be closed today (Tuesday) at 8pm Pacific and the winners announced shortly after.

Funny that you asked this question today, as we awoke to inches of SNOW and big flakes falling quickly from the sky - !! Fall is over in our part of Canada but we have enjoyed the pumpkin patch, hikes through the brilliant forest and putting the garden to bed (i.e. raking piles of leaves to jump in!)

Our family takes an annual trip to Lake Tahoe, CA to take Fall in - the beautiful trees, the cool, brisk air and nice strolls to watch the salmon spawn. Even with 3 boys 5 and under it's possible to slow down! This is our favorite season. :)

Fall is not really my favorite time of the year so it's kind of melancholy for me. I prefer the hot and flip-floppy summers. I will say, however, we love football season so that's about the best thing we do to celebrate fall. Lots of pigskin watching and family time with snacks and treats each weekend! :)

I love the fall! Every Columbus Day my family and I go to a local orchard that has a very large celebration with free hayrides, a band, a BBQ, cider, pick-your-own apples and pumpkins, a cider press, a candy-apple making machine, local farm store and such a lovely fall ride with the trees turning. It's been wonderful to introduce my young children to this tradition and they're just starting to enjoy it (the oldest is 4).
I also love taking out my fall decorations and my pumpkin and apple scented candles.
It's so funny that my sense of Fall is of warmth - sweaters, fireplaces and family.

I LIVE IN THE NOW (props to Eckhart Tolle) each autumn by doing the following:
I slow down to enjoy the season change.
I gather tactile things: warm blankets, heater turning on in the early morning hours, a cup of hot tea or cocoa, and books, lots of books, usually picked up at my favorite used bookstore or the library.
I clean floors and windows in preparation for winter. Fall culminates in Thanksgiving, when we give thanks for all the blessings we've received.

Every fall we go the a Pumpkin Party held by a family fried of ours. Everyone brings a pumpkin and after a chili dinner, we all carve our pumpkins. Then we light candles and turn off the lights to admire our work. This year was the 8th year and we really look forward to it each year. Now the kids are old enough that they do the carving and the grown-ups relax.

we are celebrating fall in the south with "trunk or treat" where we take the kids to our church and all the cars park in a circle, decorate their cars, and hand out candy from the back...should be fun..it's finally getting cooler ( although 75 degrees isn't really cool, coming from Michigan), but I'm enjoying in none the less. happy fall Ali !

We celebrate fall by:
collecting fall leaves;
making fall tree sponge art;
taking walks and noticing the changes of the season; and
making more cozy, cold weather dishes.
Thank you for continuing to inspire.

I don't know if you'd consider this "celebrating" but I just love looking at the changing leaves. The colors are truly beautiful and inspiring. It's the one thing I love about this time of year!

I celebrate fall by opening the windows and letting the fresh air in. Then the kids get in on the act by making shunken apple heads, carving pumpkins, toasting pumpkin seeds and making their halloween custumes. Add a big old pot of homemade soup slow cooking on the stove w/ served w/ some hot choc and you pumpkin muffins and there you have it.... fall.
