One Little Word 2009 & Giveaways
Tags:I am so excited to embark on a new word for 2009.
My word is nurture.
For me, especially with a new baby on the way within the next month or so, I have been thinking a lot about nurturing. It's such a soft, slow, gentle word.
There are many things in my life I would like to focus on nurturing this coming year. Our new baby girl. Simon and the transition to big brotherhood. My relationship with Chris. Photography. Patience. My business & this blog.
I am also going to be conscious of nurturing myself during this time of major transition in our lives.
There is something very special about this word for me. It represents slowing down, simplifying, and pinpointing what is really important to me in my life (not just the next 365 days). I am nervous and excited and so looking forward to what is to come.
The idea behind the one little word concept is to give yourself something to focus on throughout the year. As I stated in my newsletter back in January 2007, "A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow."
Also from that same newsletter:
I can't wait to see all the words for 2009.
To celebrate the new year I have three very special giveaways - all directly related to this project. Two beautiful pieces of jewelry and one piece of art to celebrate your word.

my word for 2009 is COURAGE...the courage to accept who I am; the courage to embrace change; the courage to love freely; the courage to follow my dreams. It's an all-encompassing word! Happy New Year!

As a mother of 1 year old twins and a 6 year plus a husband and a new home, this year "Pace" will be my word. I find myself doing too much, too fast all the time. This year is all about PACE.

My word is Discipline. I love how this word is strong and implies structure. For me it doesn't have a negative connection but rather it has a connection that will allow me to grow and achieve so many things that I have to do and be. I have so much in my life but I need the Discipline to enjoy it all.

My word for this year is LEARN. I've already set in motion a few things, like signing up for three of Jessica Sprague's digi classes. I'm checking out some local photography classes and I have a few non-scrapbooking learning experiences in mind.
It also applies to my relationship with my six children, as I help them LEARN and grow.

Savor - my son is growing up so fast, my husband and I work non-stop and we need to stop and savor every big and small moment we have with him and each other.

I am still working on my 2009 one word but have the list narrowed to three:
Courage - to move forward and not look back.
Embrace - the unexpected and life changing occurances over the last year of my life and learn to be a peace with the changes.
Strength - to be able to overcome the unexpected and life changing occurances.
Will have to contemplate a little longer before deciding on just one.

I'm debating between two words: Transform & Resolve. Actually, they are related. So I'm resolving to transform! We have some transforming to do on our house and I'm resolving to get it done in 2009!
Happy New Year, love your word, and thanks for the chance for some fabulous prizes.

Wow this is a great idea! I don't know what my word is yet, but I will find it in the next few days. There is always so much to look forward to in an upcoming year, this next year we will be getting out and going with the new Christmas puppy, my son will be starting school in the fall and my husband's job always has a chance of moving. I'll have to find a word for moving forward in a positive way.

I thought I knew exactly what my word for 2009 was going to be until I read through some of these posts. I'm thinking about the word CHANGE because there are so many things I need to work through. But along with changes comes the courage to make the changes, Dare(ing) to make bold decisions, Choose(ing) a different path. I'll be thinking about this today.
Thanks for everyone's inspiration. Happy New Year.

I am still deciding, but leaning towards REACH.
In the upcoming year, I need to REACH out to others and make new friends, REACH out and help others more, REACH up to higher standards for myself and children, and REACH within myself for once.
Thank you for your on-going inspiration.

Ali, I'm so excited about this. I love the word for the year...this my third year doing it and it makes it so easy to remind me of my focus for the year.
While I was going with another word, I saw a book and it changed my word all together. My word this year is BLOOM. To let all of the things that I feel are in me rise to the surface and not be put aside because of fear or excuses.
I'm so excited!

WOw!!!!! My pastor has been talking about serving others for the last few weeks and when I saw that sign it just seemed to be a confirmation of what my word should be. I, too have a baby on the way and I am thinking hard about what my focus will be for this new year. I definitely want to do some things differently to improve myself, if that makes sense. I;m still thinking.
