One Little Word 2009 & Giveaways
Tags:I am so excited to embark on a new word for 2009.
My word is nurture.
For me, especially with a new baby on the way within the next month or so, I have been thinking a lot about nurturing. It's such a soft, slow, gentle word.
There are many things in my life I would like to focus on nurturing this coming year. Our new baby girl. Simon and the transition to big brotherhood. My relationship with Chris. Photography. Patience. My business & this blog.
I am also going to be conscious of nurturing myself during this time of major transition in our lives.
There is something very special about this word for me. It represents slowing down, simplifying, and pinpointing what is really important to me in my life (not just the next 365 days). I am nervous and excited and so looking forward to what is to come.
The idea behind the one little word concept is to give yourself something to focus on throughout the year. As I stated in my newsletter back in January 2007, "A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow."
Also from that same newsletter:
I can't wait to see all the words for 2009.
To celebrate the new year I have three very special giveaways - all directly related to this project. Two beautiful pieces of jewelry and one piece of art to celebrate your word.

My word for this upcoming year is TRUST as in "Trust in the Lord with all of my heart..." It is something I struggle with all the time and yet I know that God is the only being worthy of total, 100% trust. I will let go of my agenda and trust God for His.

Not completely decided at this point, but I'm leaning towards intentional. Defintiely something I strive to be, as a mother - a wife - a friend, etc.

I'm still deciding between EXPLORE and PASSION(, though SIMPLIFY is alwfully tempting as well). They both go well with my word for last year: Discovery. I DID discover some wonderful things last year about myself and other pursuits and passions which I want to explore. I want my word to be a reminder for my priorities and what I want to focus on (so that I let all other non-necessities fall by the wayside...) I still have a few more hours before I decide. LOL!

Happy New Year from downunder.
2008's word was Accomplish and it worked, there were a number of big things accomplished last year. 2009's word is BELIEF. Belief that even more can be accomplished and that I can succeed at some of the things I want to try.
Thanks for this concept, I've even got my DH thinking about a word.

seriously ... 'nuture' is one of my concentration areas in which to focus this year. I don't know that I did enough with my OLW last year, but I've been focused on four big picture areas in which to work: 1.nurture 2.interpret 3. make 4. share
don't know if I'll land on a word, but will certainly share it if I should.
Be well, Ali. Happy New Year's Eve!

My word for 2009 will be BREATHE.
For me, this words includes to slow down, to pause, to simplify and to remember what's really important. To smile when one of our children spills a glass of milk, when the driver in front of you seems to be out of his mind and when work is exhausting you to death.
I will remind myself: "Breathe!"

ALi,
I am thinking of intentional or be. I want to "be" where I am when I am there..be present..with my family, my career, my relationships..or intentional...in each area of my life...intentional about what I say "no" to and "yes"...
Thanks for the inspiration!

This year my word ENJOY, so simple and perfect for what I want to achieve in 2009!

My word for 2009 is POSITIVE. I want to focus on the positive things in my life. I have so much to be thankful for and the good things always get overshadowed by all the ngeative "stuff".
Hope you enjoy the New Year.

I actually have two words this year: FOCUS and DISCIPLINE. Sounds hard-core, I know. But I need a little hard-core in my life. From my health, to my organizational efforts, to my job, to just the day-to-day running of my house. And of course, the girls are starting kindergarten this year. Waiting to see if they'll be mainstreamed or if we'll still be special ed; its going to take lots of discipline to keep myself on track.
Have a great New Year filled with lots of great things!

I'm still debating, but right now I'm thinking my word will be Clarity. As I fast approach 40 (within days) I want to focus on clarity in my goals for home, work, and life.

My word is FREEDOM:
finding the courage within myself to finally FREE myself from 100+ pounds of excess weight; to begin the hard work of FREEING ourselves from credit card debt that is crushing our family; to give myself the FREEDOM to trust my instincts and the God who created us both as I learn how best to love and nurture my recently-diagnosed child with Asperger's.
"If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." Yeah, freedom is *definitely* my word for 2009.

I am so excited to be doing this again this year. My word was so important last year & truly became my motto. My word this year is ADVENTURE. I have lots of changes coming in my life next year & my attitude about them has totally changed now that I've picked this word. Thanks for the inspiration Ali!
