One Little Word 2009 & Giveaways
Tags:I am so excited to embark on a new word for 2009.
My word is nurture.
For me, especially with a new baby on the way within the next month or so, I have been thinking a lot about nurturing. It's such a soft, slow, gentle word.
There are many things in my life I would like to focus on nurturing this coming year. Our new baby girl. Simon and the transition to big brotherhood. My relationship with Chris. Photography. Patience. My business & this blog.
I am also going to be conscious of nurturing myself during this time of major transition in our lives.
There is something very special about this word for me. It represents slowing down, simplifying, and pinpointing what is really important to me in my life (not just the next 365 days). I am nervous and excited and so looking forward to what is to come.
The idea behind the one little word concept is to give yourself something to focus on throughout the year. As I stated in my newsletter back in January 2007, "A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow."
Also from that same newsletter:
I can't wait to see all the words for 2009.
To celebrate the new year I have three very special giveaways - all directly related to this project. Two beautiful pieces of jewelry and one piece of art to celebrate your word.

My word for 2009 is RELAX. This past month my family took it's first vacation in over 6 years. As a working mom with 2 kids who also cares for my grandfather, I learned that I am a much better mom, wife, caregiver if I take time to relax and enjoy life once in a while. Maybe my word should be SELFISH because sometimes that's not such a bad thing! Thanks for the inspiration!! Happy New Year!!!

I've decided on the word CREATE for 2009. I intend to do something creative each day, even if it is only something small like taking a photo, doodling a note for someone I love, or arranging a vase of flowers. The word CREATE can also be an urge to myself in relation to making changes and acting on plans - creating what I want in life.
As always, thanks for the inspiration, and happy new year!

:My word for 2009 is "enjoy" - taking time to enjoy the minute, hour or day....not stressing about future joys that may come ( which they will ) but enjoy it all when it is presented to me. Enjoy - I reallly like my word.
Last years' word was "simplify" and it really became part of me - I am trusting myself to make "enjoy" a word to live by too.

this year I have choosen the word "bounce." Bounce means to spring back in a lively manner; to move or walk in a lively. exuberant, or energetic manner; ability to rebound. Bounce also means vitality, energy , liveliness, and to recover quickly. This word fits not only me but how I'm viewing 2009. After one of the absolute worst years of my life - I'm feeling revived and ready to get back to my lively self! nikki

My word is HEAL. This year, I have broken my foot, had my gall bladder removed, lost my dear MIL, and just a little over a week ago I had a miscarriage and they had to remove both my tubes. I am hoping 2009 will be a year for healing for me. Physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Happy New Year Ali!! Kisses to Simon & Baby Girl Edwards :)

My word is PERSEVERE.
I have GOT to lose weight this year so that I can have a successful pregnancy. We want a sibling for my son super bad but I cannot risk it at my current weight because of previous Eclampsia.
I've been having such a hard time losing weight but I vow this year will be the year to PERSEVERE and WIN my battle despite any challenges/issues/anything that comes my way!

Hey Ali
This year I choose DISCOVER as my word. I am going back to school to get a Graduate Diploma in Teaching, My big girl starts school this year also, so it is a time of discovery for both of us. I also have many skills I would like to discover and learn, such as quilting, stamping and photography.
This year I aim to discover the secret of balance too. Keeping house tidy, kids and husband happy and myself creatively fulfilled.
Happy new year and awiting the arrival of baby Edwards! Good luck to you all...

GREAT word Ali!!!!! How perfect it is --
My word for 2009 is Cherish. This year was harder for me to pick a word -- last year I just kinda picked one. This year I started thinking about my word (In September)to the point of writing my different choices on index cards and putting them around my house to see how they "fit"
So, CHERISH is it for 2009 -- Cherish my family, photography, the quiet moments and the beauty (or not) or the day and moment.
Have a great 2009

After much thought today, I think I have settled on the word {GRACE} for the year 2009. I love the multiple meanings of this word, and feel that the word truly reflects the way that I want to lead my life. We've faced the challenge of infertility for more than 8 years now, and I need to change my focus for the year... so instead I will work to live my life in the spirit of GRACE in 2009.
Thank you for your constant inspiration, Ali. There aren't enough words to express the gratitude I feel. Thank you...
