One Little Word 2009 & Giveaways
Tags:I am so excited to embark on a new word for 2009.
My word is nurture.
For me, especially with a new baby on the way within the next month or so, I have been thinking a lot about nurturing. It's such a soft, slow, gentle word.
There are many things in my life I would like to focus on nurturing this coming year. Our new baby girl. Simon and the transition to big brotherhood. My relationship with Chris. Photography. Patience. My business & this blog.
I am also going to be conscious of nurturing myself during this time of major transition in our lives.
There is something very special about this word for me. It represents slowing down, simplifying, and pinpointing what is really important to me in my life (not just the next 365 days). I am nervous and excited and so looking forward to what is to come.
The idea behind the one little word concept is to give yourself something to focus on throughout the year. As I stated in my newsletter back in January 2007, "A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow."
Also from that same newsletter:
I can't wait to see all the words for 2009.
To celebrate the new year I have three very special giveaways - all directly related to this project. Two beautiful pieces of jewelry and one piece of art to celebrate your word.

+ positivity +
I want to be more positive in life and focus on the happier and good things in my life rather than seeing all the negativity in people and life in general. I want to be a really good & happy person so that I can share my positive energy towards those around me.
Happy 2009!

My word is "energy." I spent the first 6 months of 2008 recovering from a broken back (I broke it ice skating on New Year's Day). Much of the last year was spent laying down! I hate laying down! I am 100% better now, and I feel ready to take on a bunch of new projects. For one, I'm going to focus on my photography in a major way. My goal is to tackle life with lots and lots of energy this year ... no more laying down!

My word for 2009 is ACCEPT. I have been bombarded with serious health issues this year and in order to move on in life I need to learn to accept that "it is what it is" and while I have faith it will be better, I need to accept this as true.

My word is ! My life with my son with Autism has been focused on "fixing" and "improving" and "refocusing". In 2009, I'd like to work on just accepting my not so little 9 year old son for who he is.

Love the necklaces and "word art" featured in your blog. And I love the idea of having a "word" each year to focus on. My word is not an action word, it's a noun: FAMILY FIRST. I will put my family before other things that may come up and take my time. Play a board game with DD instead of wasting so much time on the computer, watching a movie with DH instead of "holing up" in my craft room all night long, and thinking about making more memories with my family instead of spending so much time reading books. I will still make sure I take time for myself, but I will definitely focus more on spending time with family, too. I will make sure I have a better balance than I have sometimes.

My word is Reach.
Reach out to others, reach up to God...
Especially reach out of my comfort zone (which just isn't that comfortable anymore).
It's going to be a good year.
Thank you Ali for inspiring this thoughtfulness each year :)

Spine. It wouldn't make sense to you, but it means healing, wholeness and movement to me.

In 2007 I went w/ NEST as we moved into our new home in the country and began a slower way of life. In 2008, I chose ABSORB as I tried many new things and paid careful attention to the small things all year long. in 2009, it's all about ADVENTURE. I want to see how far I can go. My bucket list. This is an entire year of being 40. I want it to shine brightly. So, ADVENTURE it is. :SIGH: I'm so psyched!!!

My word is "Organize." I'm feeling just a tad out of balance and a little (ok, a lot) of organization is needed in my life!
Happy New Year!

I have not yet decided, several words keep coming to me, at this moment I am thinking of
Embrace
Fit
Live
Play
I just turned 49 and want to be fit by the time I am 50. I am also wishing for more patience this year, with myself, expectation and others. As well as enjoying life and each moment, I lost a very dear friend to Breast Cancer in November and her motto was to Live Big - I want to honor her and do the same. I was always a serious kid and it has taken me this long to learn to play and have unexpected unplanned fun. I want more.
thank you for all your inspiration and friendship. I think nurture is the perfect word for you this year. All the best.

As I have been thinking... and thinking about my word over the past month or so I've had a hard time. The past couple of years it was easier, for some reason I had been at a loss this year until last week. I woke up early one morning and started reviewing this past year. One word popped out at me & stuck. CHANGE. At first I wasn't digging it and started trying to think of other words quickly to realize it really was the perfect word for me.
So, I'll take my word for the year from President Elect Obama... CHANGE I can believe in!
I pray that I will have the strength & courage I need this year to adapt to the CHANGE I will make in my life & the CHANGE that will be given to me.
