Celebrating Simon.

Candles

We are all wiped out tonight after a really fun, loud, and chocolate-filled birthday celebration. My feet are definitely tired.

Cupcakes

Yep, cake (above) and cupcakes.

Seven

Birthdays are cool.

And I love this one:

Cake2

Today after school Simon and I will embark on putting together a Star Wars lego ship. Wish me luck. He was bummed that it was not happening after the party so we had a little chat about having something to look forward to on the day after your birthday.

He also says thank you to all of you who left well-wishes for him yesterday. That was really special and cool.

Seven is going to be a good year.

Dottedline

SimontourTOPPIC

And speaking of things that are good & fun, a tour of Simon's updated bedroom was featured on Ohdeedoh yesterday (click this link for information about stuff in the room). In all reality the nesting has been going on around here for the last few months.

The planet mobile is an old one from Pottery Barn Kids. I found this one on ebay a few years back.

Something so sweet about a 7 year old boy. My son was 7 when I had my daughter. You're in for a wonderful year full of magical moments. Simon will amaze you more than ever.

Love it, love it! I spotted the Obama photo on the wall. I thought my moments of bursting into tears ended yesterday after the first official photo of the president at his desk was shown on TV. No, apparently I had one more in me. Seeing that photo on Simon's wall made me swell up with joy. And well up ... yet again.

    Happy Birthday Simon!
My son is just 8 and Mommy misses 7 even though 8 is fun too. Happy day!
... I think my favorite part of this whole post is your title "Celebrating Simon"--perfect for my upcoming daughter's birthday page (Celebrating Shelby). =)

My son (who will turn 7 at the end of May) is a lego FANATIC!! Between parents, Santa, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles he recieved 14 sets for Christmas. It was all he asked for. Add a bout of pneumonia after the holidays and it's all we've done around here! Legos are so cool! I love building them with him. Much better than playing Star Wars - which of course are his favorite Lego sets!!
I'm glad he (and it seems you and the rest of the family) had a wonderful birthday! Enjoy the time you have with him, once the little one comes along you feel pulled (I also have an 18 month old dgt).

Love the tour on Ohh-Dee-Doh. Beautiful. I love his room. Love all the red and blue, maps and planets, vintage and new. These are my favorite things for a little boy, and what I plan on doing in a nursery when I finally have a little boy.
    Have a great day!

The wall color in your son's room is great! If you know what brand and color name it is, would you let me know?
By the way, those are awesome birthday photos. If I were the one taking them, everything would look as dark as that cake.

    Happy birthday to Simon :-)
I have followed your blog for quite some time but never realized until now that your son is so close in age to my third child, Mikkel.
He will be 7 February 13. He loves Star Wars too - and LEGO.
My work is at LEGO (lucky me!) in Denmark and Mikkel just think that is the most cool place to work ;-)
Let me know if you should ever want to visit Legoland Denmark...!

What a long way Simon has come. I have been reading your blog for several years and have watched him grow and learn. I have a seven year old, 5 y/o, and a 20 month old. Congratulations Simon!

    Ali,
I don't know if it has been asked before. Where did you purchase the World Map? I want a huge one like that and child-friendly enough that kids can actually find the different countries.
    Thank you!

Simon's room looks like a room my 7 year old would love to visit. A boy can NEVER have to many Legos, that's what my kiddo says anyway. He got 8 sets for Christmas.
What a very happy time of year for your family. Happy Celebrating!
    Chocolate cupckes.....YUMMY!

You may want to let Simon take on that Lego ship on his own. My son always does better with out my help! Here, here to the previous comment concerning the Lego catalogs. There is always lots of excitement in our house when they arrive in the mail. Happy birthday Simon!
    PS Love the baby bump!

Simon's birthday looks like fun! My baby girl will be 7 this year, too...and she loves Legos, too!
And Ali, thanks for getting me addicted to a new site today (ohdeedoh)! I can't stop looking at everything on there. Simon's room is great, and I'm sure baby A's is, too!
