Celebrating Simon.

Candles

We are all wiped out tonight after a really fun, loud, and chocolate-filled birthday celebration. My feet are definitely tired.

Cupcakes

Yep, cake (above) and cupcakes.

Seven

Birthdays are cool.

And I love this one:

Cake2

Today after school Simon and I will embark on putting together a Star Wars lego ship. Wish me luck. He was bummed that it was not happening after the party so we had a little chat about having something to look forward to on the day after your birthday.

He also says thank you to all of you who left well-wishes for him yesterday. That was really special and cool.

Seven is going to be a good year.

SimontourTOPPIC

And speaking of things that are good & fun, a tour of Simon's updated bedroom was featured on Ohdeedoh yesterday (click this link for information about stuff in the room). In all reality the nesting has been going on around here for the last few months.

The planet mobile is an old one from Pottery Barn Kids. I found this one on ebay a few years back.

    Happy Birthday Simon!
Your photos are lovely. The one with seven fingers in front of his face is really cute! Where did you get those little Diego figurines that were on top of the cupcakes? Very unique. I love his room. It's very stylish and not too boyish.

Hi Simon - I am thrilled to hear you had such a wonderful birthday. I hope this turns out to be a terrific year for you. You're going to be a wonderful big brother to your little sister. What a lucky girl. When my daughter was your age I always called her the Lego Queen, boy did she love her Legos. Happy 7th!!!

I do love CUPCAKES!! Yeah- Simon!! What a fantastic year this will be for him- becoming a big brother an all.
I do love his room. But my tinies rooms never look so neat- how'd you do that? Was it just for the photo op or does he keep it like this?

I don't post often but I do read your blog.
I had to laugh. I was wondering why you had the little black kid figurines on the cake then I realized it's probably some cartoon he likes. I don't have kids! LOL!
Wonderful celebration and I love your photos. I really like how well lit your home is. It's always nice to see.
Glad Simon and you had a good day.

My Daughter Darcey turns 7 in a couple of weeks. She too, is having a 'Cupcake Cake' although it is swathed in PINK, which I'm sure you will get all too used to very soon!

Happy Birthday to Simon. Beautyful birthday photos. Love the lighting! And what a wonderful bedroom he has. I took the tour. Am trying to organize my son's room too, but feel a bit overwhelmed by it.

He looks a happy boy - good luck with the Star Wars ship. I feel your pain on that one! Rebuilt all my 5 year olds last week and want to cry that they're in bits again! Lego need to start including superglue in their boxes!!

I remember fondly the Lego building nights my son and I used to have when he was about Simon's age (he's now nearly 20). We'd have all the many pieces organized and directions stacked up and build one thing after the other. His favorites were the old Pirate sets and Knight's Castle sets. It was actually nice for me too - bonding time with my son but also filling my passion for puzzling in a way. Gotta hand it to those Lego makers.

Love Simons redone room. Being nosey but can you tell me what the white print is just below the globe - looks like it may be flags?
    Enjoy the lego :)

Happy Birthday, Simon! Today is my birthday, too! I didn't get a cool Lego toy, though. My family bought a cake from my favourite bakery. Have a super day!
