Three Things + 1 : Lots of Love (and giveaways)

Depending on my kids hockey schedule, we usually have dinner together as a family. I make them all their own V-Day cards and we enjoy each others company. This year, my boys have districts on V-Day, so not sure how our dinner plans will be affected.

We celebrate in a very traditional way- a romantic dinner for two.

We make homemade sugar cookies and decorate them every year with the kids. It is a simple tradition but very special that the kids will remember forever. Thanks xo

My daughter will be 17 on Valentine's Day. Since her birth, we have had a double celebration every year. I think I use the little cinnamon candy hearts on her cake every year! Lots of fun!

i keep it really simple but give each of my boys a small "happy" and make my husband a card. We have dinner together and celebrate the love in our family.

We don't do anything special for Valentine's Day. Instead we try to focus on what we love about each other all year. One day simply isn't enough!

We still be happy looking at our eyes =) this is my favorite celebration for the Valentine's day, five years and like the first day!

I try to make something heart-shaped as part of our food that day...pizza, pancakes, sandwiches are all easy to do.

I write little lovey notes to our two boys and my husband for them to read when they wake up. This year the boys will be getting little treats after dinner and I make everything pink/red. We have pink yogurt, strawberries, twizzlers, kool-aid, we'll paint a pink/red picture for dad while he's at work and the bath water will be pink/red that night with bubbles. A fun day to share with each other!

Hi Ali! My husband & I made a pact a few years ago to "boycott" the concept of Valentine's Day-- he shows me he loves me every single day of the year (his side of the pact) and I am a Hallmark store manager and I get sick of it by Feb 14 (my side of the pact). Instead, we book a long weekend getaway to the ocean the last weekend of February and enjoy our time together then. I still sneak out homemade Valentine cards & care packages to our kids in their 20s. :)

Last year I made those altered mailboxes from the $1 mailboxes at Target and put little goodies in it for the kids. It was so fun that it is going to be a tradition for us. I've already bought little heart pencils and chocolates for them. They love opening them on Valentine's Day morning ;)

Valentine's day is always celebrated with home made gifts and an indoor picnic. We keep things simple. Two of my favorite gifts have included a paper mosaic heart that now hangs in a frame in our hallway, and a painted/decorated cardboard bouquet of flowers that now live in our daughter's room. Our picnic includes yummy treats from local farmers market or whole foods - there's always something new to try, always chocolate and strawberries and always a room filled with candles. This year our daughter (19 months) will be old enough to celebrate with us, and I'm thinking that the 3 of us can play with some red and white finger paints and maybe have some heart pancakes for breakfast. Looking forward to watching our Valentine celebrations change as she gets older!

I cook my husband's favorite meal and make a black forest cake with a little red food coloring in the whipped cream for effect, a card, some lottery tickets or a coin for his collection if we're doing gifts. He always suprises me when it comes to Valentine's Day - some years candy and a card, others jewelry or tickets to see my favorite baseball team!

Our tradition is to get dozens & dozens of heart balloons and put them out as we go about our day. In our house we put them up for a while too.

We give our 2 little ones a book on love (with a little note in it)ea. year. & since I use any excuse I can to celebrate :)My 3 1/2 yr. old is having a valentine party with 3 of her friends... She is so excited! Red & pink candies, cupcakes piled with sprinkles, & little purses stuffed with goodies! I'm wondering already if she is ever going to stop asking when Love day is??
Really though, the day is just a good reminder that LOVE indeed is what life is all about!

We make heart shaped sugar cookies and frost them and some kind of valentine craft. Now that our oldest is in Kg., he can sign all his own valentines for school, and our littler guy takes a fun treat to storytime.

When are children were still at home, I would make heart-shaped pizzas for dinner along with some sinfully delicious chocolate dessert. And my DH always bought the kids boxes of conversation hearts. Now we have grandchildren and we buy them boxes of conversation hearts. As for me and DH, we now go out to eat on Valentines day and I buy him a big box of chocolates. He buys me flowers.

I wake the kids with loads of hugs & kisses, we have a special breakfast & dinner. If there is school - I'll usually put either a little something in the lunch or if a class is doing Valentine's Grams - I'll purchase one.

Since I quite often don't manage to get all my winter holiday cards out, I try to make up for it by sending homemade Valentine's. Thank you for the give-away.

Our son Carter was born on Valentine's Day three years ago. We can't think of a better way of celebrating our love for each other on that day than by celebrating him!
