Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

well, since there are 951 comments before me, i doubt you'll even get around to reading mine! : ) BUT...i just love your blog {i'm a new reader} and love andrea's necklaces! they are just gorgeous. if i had to name a 'superpower' that i have i would probably say being thoughtful. maybe sometimes TOO much. it just comes naturally. it is just so important to me to make sure the people i love and care about are all happy and well!

I think memorizing things that I don't even have to is my superpower. When my husband asks me about a certain document of HIM, I probably know where to find it. Same thing with clothes, keys, books, telephone numbers, dates, ... you name it. Well, I'm just realizing I'm my husbands agenda with a head and two feet ...

My superpower? At first I thought I would say taking care of my family. My husband travels M-F every week and I hold down the fort (which really stinks this year with all the snow I have to shovel).Taking care of my children, the house, homework, activities etc.
Then I thought my superpower might be that I can do all of the above and also take care of 2 babies 10 hours a day, 5 days a week.
After more thinking I have decided that my true superpower is being able to truely appreciate all that I have and to be thankful each day for all of life's blessings. It takes true strength and courage to live each day to the fullest, and to love the life you have chosen to live!

I think being a Mom, especially a Working Mom, is a Superpower all by itself! Juggling a job, or two, kids, a house, pets and still trying to be creative in some way, to me is something to be admired and inspired by, and definitely deserves the title of "SuperHero!!"

I'm a superhero because I made 3 kids! I can't believe my body did that and that I'm actually capable of juggling all three kids and their schedules!

Well that necklace is just so happy and sweet! It also looks like candy!
Hmm,I think my super powers would be that whenever my friends or family need me I am there in a flash, no matter what time it is or what I am doing I will be there for you 100% to help you in whatever way I can. I am proud of that because I love to show people how much they mean to me and how grateful I am that they are in my life by being there for them.

Hi, Ali. I've never done this before nor do I ever seem to win anything! But, I must say my personal superpower is making others feel good about themselves. I love helping the people in my life succeed and to be their shoulder to cry on, source of encouragement and laugh till you tinkle in your pants partner! I feel so fulfilled -- and I'm often amazed by the compassion I'm give my others. Thanks for being a diligent blogger -- it gives me inspiration every day!

I guess I never thought of myself as a superhero til I read your post. I have a husband that is out to sea all the time in the Navy and I am left to deal with 3 kids, two dogs and the house. I have days I'd rather not get out of bed and yet I always manage to find the strength to keep going one day at a time. What a great idea for me to keep in mind that I am a superhero in my own special way. Thank you for the inspiring post!

Hope this doesn't sound arrogant or dorky, but I think my super power is to see the absoulute best in children. For as long as I can remember, I have been like the Pied Piper with children. Always gathering around me. I sort of can see through them to see what will make them feel valued and do what I can to give them a sense of being special. I love going to my children's school because there, I can barely take a step down the hall without a bunch of hugs and stories and beaming kids following me around. At the same time, I know I would never be a great teacher - too much discipline involved. I like the free-spirit, playful side of building them up, not so much the part where you have to have order and have them learn the ABCs.

The first superpower that comes to mind is that I have a great sense of direction- I can drive almost anywhere new and rarely ever get lost! This comes in handy on road trips.

I consider myself a "jack of all trades, master of none." But if I had to pick a character trait that I am proud of, I guess I would chose dependability. In any situation, good or bad, if you need me you can always count on me.

Right now I would say that I am a super shoveller!! I just spent 90 minutes outside getting rid of snow, and then the 1 1/2 inch thick layer of ice on our driveway. You can see bare pavement now and I feel really super!

Love. Ever since high school I have had the reputation as being the girl who loved everyone no matter what.
I am also faster than a speeding tricycle headed toward traffic, more powerful that a stubborn teenager, and able to leap tall lego buildings in a single bound.

I believe that each of us have many superpowers. As women we are given the gift of growing another human being in our womb and nuturing them through life.
I have been truely blessed to find a career that makes an impact on those around me. I have found a man I am proud to call my husband who gives me the freedom I need to thrive. And I have been born into a family who provides more love than I ever deserve. These superpowers where somehow given to me, and for that, I am forever thankful!

oh wow, this is something that is good to think about because women rarely do! I would say my superpower is that i bring people together - meaning i am always on the look out to connect people i know who need to know each other. i love seeing new friendships grow and feel honored if i could play some part in the process.
