Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My superpower is listening. My friends and family love that I can listen without throwing in my two cents. I don't think there are enough people in this world that just listen and don't pass judgement.
I love her necklaces. I have been coveting one, but I just can't swing one right now.

I am a superhero at loving my little family, my husband and four boys. My love is ferocious and fierce, a force to be reckoned with, you might say. :0) I'm sure you can relate.
Have a great Wednesday, Ali! Oh, and btw, the jewelry is so gorgeous!

I think my super power is that I cook a real dinner pretty much every night and it does not bother me that I cannot please everyone every night with what I make, no matter how hard I try. My kids would prefer to eat chicken parm and pasta every night, but that is not going to cut it nutritionally, so I press on! I just keep saying at least I have provided my family a healthy meal and what they do with it is their choice. :-)

my superpower is inspiring my sons creativity by telepathy. I will be drawing or coloring and sending brainwaves... "you know you want to draw/color" and he will. I'm very good at it!

Ha! I just attended an incentive event a few weeks ago at Marvel Superhero Island Adventure in Florida and thought it would be funny for me and my baby to wear matching superhero themed t-shirts. After a bit of searching, I came across a shirt that had a "B" on it set in the superman logo style and it reads "I make milk, what's your superpower?"
Needless to say, on this trip that was primarily women - everyone got a great chuckle out of it.
All kidding aside - breastfeeding my fourth child is still an amazing thing! Certainly, superpower"ish" that our bodies can do such an amazing thing!
BTW - his shirt says "I'm invincible, I drink breastmilk"
I had a caracture done of the 2 of us there that you can see on my blog if you scroll down a few posts. We are both superheros - it is the cutest thing ever!
Love the jewelry - and love the story you shared about getting to know Andrea!

These necklaces are gorgeous. I would have to say my superhero power would be juggling. Not objects, heaven help us all, but just everything that has to get done in our family.

I am super at juggling. I should be in the circus! I work full time at my own business, do the books for my husband's business, run investment property, run our household and do a pretty darn good job raising my 2 boys. Thanks for the chance to toot my own horn!

Wow, I think we are all waiting for this new baby girl. I love the simplicity of that nursery.
My super power is midwifery. I help women birth their babies, and I'm good at helping making those special "birth" days safe and filled with humor, love, comfort and purpose. As a working mom, I find great comfort in spending my "work" time away from my kids helping women join the mommy club.

My superpower is juggling. I have six kids and my husband frequently travels for work, so I get to keep all the balls in the air. And most of the time it goes pretty well.

Wow - isn't it funny how hard it is to say something positive about ourselves. My superpower is being nurturing my 4 month old baby. It's not easy, and some days I wonder if I really am good at this (like today), but I do think that most days i'm pretty good at it.

My superpower is love and loyalty. Once I've got you as my dear friend who I love so much I will move hell and highwater to help you. I love intensly and endlessly. I want to be there for you and be one person you can alway count on. I'll fight for that person and always be on there side.

I kick butt at my job. People rely on me and I come through for them. It's not always easy (or pretty!) but I am calm and organized and great at prioritizing. My job isn't rocket science but I like to think that I'm a superhero for my employer :)
PS: The jewelry is gorgeous...

Difficult question. I feel so much less than a superhero today - just drained of all energy. But I think my superpower is hugs. Even when I'm at low ebb, I can hug my boys and magically diffuse crankiness, whininess and other negatives. And make myself feel better at the same time. That's pretty powerful. Thanks for asking, Ali, I needed that today!

My superpower..... two arms to hug away boo-boos and hurt, give a squeeze for a job well done, calm fears of the dark, and hold tight the most precious things in my life...... my family.

First of all, I want to hire the person who said she was a super hero at organizing! Okay, me - I'm a super hero of bouncing back in the face of adversity. I call that my indomitable spirit, or you may think of it as resilience. Challenges can be overcome, setbacks mean you get another chance. How you THINK you will do really, truly, affects how you actually do.
