Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway: Freehand Scraps, Big Picture Scrapbooking, + Paper & Co. Show
First, I want to pass along a thought for today that I came across on my friend Alex's blog about courage & leaps:
What I realized is that there is not just one big moment of courage in
our lives. There are many. These moments come to us in different ways.
At times we are forced into a leap (unexpected pregnancy, when parents
or partners pass away, when we loose our job). At times we are called
into a leap (when someone invites us for a trip of a lifetime, when our
partner wants to move to a new city, when we are offered a chance, when
we take the "money maker" role to support our family). Then there are
also the daily tiny leaps we take for the sake of adventure (when we
try new types of food, music, when we go out on a date, when we talk to
a stranger, when we transition from blogger friends to real life
friends). No matter how small, silly or hard, tiny, dramatic or
forgotten... All leaps are important because little by little, we live
through change, we figure out how to cope, we move forward, we learn
who we are, and we build our confidence for the bigger leaps, the ones
we seek for ourselves.
Maybe someone else out there needed to hear this today too...
And now, three cool midweek sponsor giveaways are on tap for today:
• One person will receive a February Kit from Freehand Scraps.
• Two people will receive passes to Stacy Julian's fantastic online Library of Memories class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Focused on getting your scrapbook albums in working order and organizing your photos (in a very "you-centered" way), I highly recommend the class and/or Stacy's book Photo Freedom. Class begins February 12th and runs for 16 weeks. This class is only offered once a year.
• One person will receive 4 classes for the Paper & Co. event in Italy on March 27, 28, and 29 (giveaway does not include travel, accommodations, or food for the event). You can check out a list of the classes here. Italy sure sounds good to me right about now :).
To be included in the drawing today please leave a comment below and share your most recent "leap" or act of courage. Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winners posted shortly after.
I would also like to take a minute to welcome and thank my newest blog sponsors:
Digital Birdhouse : digital scrapbook products
Scarlet Lime : monthly kit club
The Paper Pixie : paper embellishments
The Digital Scrapbook Teacher : photoshop tutorials and classes for hybrid + digital scrapbooking
Lettergirls : delightful hand-created address stamps

Asking my husband if I can convert my walk-in closet to a scrapbook room - this would require my clothes to be in his closet - he is quite the picky one! However, he said YES and now I am designing my room. This took courage - trust me! I love him though!!

I recently went back to work after being a full time Mom for 3 years, in order to make it possible for my husband to go back to school and finish his degree. it has been a tough transition, but I am beginning to get a new routine down and not feel guilty for leaving my little ones while I work to support our family.
Thanks for the great give aways!!

My leap was when I applied to do teacher training which is a year long course. I've not been working for 6 years while having our girls so it was a big leap to become a student again. It's been hard work and has meant big adjustments for the whole family but it's also been hugely fulfilling.

Having my second child just a month before my 40th birthday. We had perfect bliss with just one daughter. We hummed and hawed and were hesitant to upset the applecart and perhaps our good luck.
We took the leap and Fynn was born. He is a little man who gives us joy and we love him through and through.

2008 was my year for leaps. Financial problems forced us to move, disrupt our girls lives and have them take the leap with us. I will say that I am proud of how they handled the change in lifestyle and how mature they were at accepting living with less. We have grown as a family because of the leap into the unknown and we landed on our feet. Makes me less afraid for the next leap or when they leap out into the world on their own.

It's a small leap-more like a "hop" really, but I cut 8 inches off my hair. And it feels fabulous. It's amazing what a sassy new 'do can do for your self-esteem :)

My most recent leap is swimming in public without a T-shirt to cover over all my lumpy rolly bits. (If I have the good fortune to win- I can't afford a trip to Italy right now).

My most recent leap was taking my children out of public school and beginning the journey of homeschool. It's been really challenging, but well worth the effort.

I SOOO needed that quote today! thanks.
I started a business in August. My Life was in the comfort zone and now I am completley "uncomfortable". My business isn't doing as well as I'd hoped and I'm not enjoying it as much as I thought I would. But I know in my heart that I made the right decision to start the business. I chose to take that leap. I stepped off into the void. And now I'm finding out where that will take me. I've learned so much along the way. This rough patch is mine for a reason. It won't last forever. And no matter what happens, I will be successful, simply for having the courage to try.

My most recent leap was deciding to take the winter off of work to stay home with our new little baby. In this economy it is really unsettling to not be working when you can, but I wouldn't miss these first few months with my little guy for the world!

my most recent leap of faith was right before Christmas, my husband and i of 18 years had been seperated since june, both dated other people thought life together was not great but realized that what we were missing most in our relationship was each other....we have gotten back into church, counseling and just reconnecting with each other...it took a big leap of faith to admit wrong-doings and to just relax and be each others friend again:)

I wish I had the courage to leap more. A big leap for me is allowing myself to enjoy the little things instead of always worrying about what "has" to be done!
Thanks for the chance, K

I love to listen to friends and help offer them a shoulder to lean on and advice when they ask. But I myself am a very private person, and rarely find myself leaning on others. Recently, I shared a bit of news about something happening in my personal life with several of my friends, and I was amazed at how supportive they were and at how good it felt to share a bit of myself with people who are close to me. Trusting can be quite rewarding after all!

My most recent leap was putting my heart and soul into weight loss. I lost 32 lbs in 2.5 months and am still going. While that doesnt sound courageous to most, the real truth behind it is, after 4 miscarriages and the premature arrival and departure of our sweet daughter, I am putting my all into trying again and getting over my fears. Go me!
