Simplify 101 • one person will receive a spot in the online workshop Organize Your Paper Clutter with Aby Garvey
Paper, paper everywhere! That paper mountain growing on your countertop
represents a loss of freedom, a loss of control, and a nagging feeling
in your gut that something important isn’t getting attended to. Your
paper, and the feelings it creates, makes it hard to relax, focus or
even have fun.
Here’s
the good news: there is a better way! With the right paper organizing
systems in place—those created with you, your paper, and your home in
mind—you can free yourself from paper clutter and the stress that comes
along with it. In Organize Your Paper Clutter, you’ll learn a
step-by-step process on how to decide if you need a piece of paper (and
for how long!) and how to organize it so you’ll find it again right
when you need it! Your piles (and your stress!) will be replaced by
organizing systems you love, and feelings of confidence, relief and
peace of mind!
Start date: Tuesday, April 21, 2009
End date: Tuesday, June 9, 2009
Registration status: open!
Read more specific details for the workshop here.

I finished "The Shack" by William Young about six months ago, will definitely read again. Not to sound sappy but I felt so peaceful after I read this book. A good choice for book clubs. A good fast read is "The Lady Elizabeth" by Alison Weir. Wonderful fiction based on historical fact about the early years of Elizabeth I.

One, I can only pick one? That's like saying: pick one piece of pattern paper that is your favorite. One? How 'bout the best book I've read in the last year. Yea, I'm changing the question. That is what I am going to answer. The best book I read last year was: "An Exact Replica of a Figment of My Imagination." It is a memoir of a woman who child died just before being born. I know it sounds really depressing, but it isn't. It is a fantatic book. Check it out!

Given to me as a gift from my mother-in-law almost 18 years ago, I often go back to reading "Gift From the Sea" by Anne Lindbergh. I use the passages in this book to help me refocus on the simplicity of life within the complications of everyday life. I find the book particularly uplifting. Even after 18 years of marriage, I always find another valuable lesson on motherhood, marriage, job, friends, etc...
Thanks for the opportunity for another giveaway, Ali.

If you like the whole vampire thing, a more literary alternative to Twilight is The Historian. Very good!
A funny book about monsters/etc. is A Dirty Job.
A recent favorite memoir is Love in the Driest Season about a couple adopting a baby from Africa.

I've got loads of books I could recommend...but my all-time favorite from childhood is Little Women. I love the story of the March sisters and their parents. I recently saw a theatrical production and it reminded me just how much I love it. :)

My favorite book children's book is one I read when I was a child and is out of print--and now very expensive to buy--who knew. My mom sold it at a yard sale without me knowing it. The book is entitled "Flossie and Bossie." Love the lessons it taught. Of course, The Bible is my number 1 read. I don't allow myself to read anything else if I did not get my Bible time in for the day.

My own favourite book is Gregory David Robert's Shantaram. Loved this book. I read it two or three years ago and I still remember the way it moved me to tears and how I would laugh out loud in the middle of the night, afraid that I would wake my husband. http://www.amazon.com/Shantaram-Novel-Gregory-David-Roberts/dp/0312330537/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238594659&sr=1-1
I also wanted to add my baby's favourite book in case Anna is looking for a good read. It is Richard Van Camp's Welcome Song for Baby. http://www.amazon.com/Welcome-Song-Baby-Richard-Camp/dp/1551436612/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238594431&sr=8-1
