I think my best advice would be as you start stay organized. I didn't and then got frustrated with not being able to find what I was looking for and would stop scrapping for a while due to the frustration.
Also, you don't always need the newest and latest products out there because there will always be more stuff. Do what you can with what you've got - if something new comes out that you want to add to something you've already done you can!

Just scrap what makes you happy at the moment and keep it simple. Don't stress about making it perfect. Enjoy the process.

I wish someone had told me that you don't always have to be "caught up"...that you can just scrap what you want! It should be a hobby, not a chore!

My best advice is when you see something you really like (as in papers, embellishments, etc.), buy extras. I don't know how many times I've only bought one sheet of something, realize I want some more of it, and go back to the store to find it gone. :p

my best advice is to remember that it's about the pictures and not the endless supplies and techniques (although i love it all!)

Don't worry about your pages looking like anyone else's. I kept mine fairly simple since they were for my family, not to be submitted to a magazine. And enjoy the process.

My advice would be to start with the present. Worrying how I was ever going to "catch up" probably paralyzed me for a good six months. Also, don't start with your most favorite pictures. Let your style develop before you tackle those.

Don't think too much, just do it. Dive right in. All you need are the basics. Pen, paper, glue, photos.

I wish someone had told me how cheap it really was to print pictures. Bite the bullet and go to Walgreens and print a LOT rather than being super selective.
Also, I had just started scrapping when I took the 'Get Crafty' Workshop, round 1 and it was amazing. So if you're just starting out, or if you're interested in getting new inspiration, I highly recommend it.

I definately wish that someone had told me or showed me about inspiration journals & how all of this stuff does not just have to come off the top of our heads. It is nice that sometimes that happens, but for the most part the whole process is so much more enjoyable with a start in mind. Loves...Shanie ;)

My advice would be to not worry about trends and just do what feels natural. When we get my scrapbooks out to look at with the kids, no one ever looks at the patterned paper or fancy embellishments. It's all about the photos and journaling.

My advice is start with the basic tools and DO NOT buy paper & embellishments just because you think they are cute (today). You will end up with TONS of paper that 11 years later you think it hideous and you'd never consider using and you never had any photos to "go with". (ask me how I know this!!)

My advice is to not buy too many supplies. Try using what you have first before adding on to your collection.

My advice would be to scrap your favorite pictures ...you don't have to start at the begining of your life and play catch up as so many of my friends get hung up on. They have to get everything (their pictures) organized and then get overwhelmed and never end up actually scrapping...just scrap your favorites.

Advice: don't go crazy buying stuff. It's more about the story. Use those little notes left around the house. Write down the funny stuff people say. ENJOY YOURSELF. Keep it simple.

I would advise them to start from today! Don't worry about catching up. Go back and scrapbook those older pictures here and there but don't let it overwhelm you to the point of getting so frustrated that it becomes a chore.
