I would say it's never too late to start scrapbooking, and not to worry about whether you have the best products or photos - that even older photos that maybe aren't the best quality can still evoke some sort of emotion. THAT's what scrapbooking's all about.

wow..so many comments already and its early..my best advice would be maybe not just buy all kinds of stuff and start hoarding it..instead when you already have pictures buy stuff to go with your project or pictures you have..you will start having enough scraps that you don't need so much stuff..because it sometimes go out of style or you won't want to use it..because so much time has passed.I made that mistake BIG time!!! wish I would have had someone tell me that.

Don't get caught up in the products that are out there. Buy what you are going to use. I have way to much product that I will probably never use that I thought I just had to have.

And don't worry about scrapping 'in order' just date all your pages and you can do whichever photos put you in the mood then organize later

don't feel guilty about not scrapping as much as you think you should. NO ONE ever gets done as much as they want to. your family will appreciate each page you did...they won't complain that it's not enough. :)

My best advice is not to buy everything you see! You want to, I know, but you end up with lots of stuff you don't use. It's hard to hold back, but in the end you will be glad you did.

I think the best advice would be to follow and do what you like, not necessarily what everyone says is "the way." Also, Journal, journal, journal. After all, it is the stories that we all love to hear and read when we are older.

What will I tell a first time scrapbooker? It is not very difficult as I am just starting on scrapbooking and just love it.
"Be outrageous dreamer". There should be no limit for your creativity. I know sometimes when you see a very good layout ou want to copy it but thats not what the scrapbooking is about. Scrapbooking is about your personality. The pages you make are "YOU". So show the world who you are.

I would suggest only buying what you can use right now. Otherwise your supplies will start to burst at the seams. Plus these wonderful supplies go out of style and you'll want the latest and greatest.

I wish someone would have told me it's not about scrapping every picture! That you don't have to triple mat each photo...that it doesn't have to be perfect...that it's about telling the story because time flies by too quickly.

Have fun, enjoy the process and don't worry about getting it "right", and also don't buy too many supplies :)

Enjoy the process - what matters most is telling the story - the thing that will be forgotten if it is not written down.

Work with the supplies you have- don't worry so much about the newest item, you can't use product that fast- and then you've found something new you'll want to use instead, thus creating a huge stock-pile that just gets old, and goes to waste.

I wish someone would have warned me about how addictive it is! Most importantly: how to organize your workspace and supplies so they make sense and work within your home environment--organizing my precious supplies so I can find, see, and use them all is key!

My best advice is to do what you enjoy & don't worry too much about what other scrapbookers might be doing. I still struggle with this & sometimes compare my own work to what is in the major print zines. Then I remind myself that this is a work of love, not a comparison contest. Relax, enjoy your process, & do what you like :)

my best advice. Experiment and try on others styles to find what you like and don't like. And try to keep the comparing yourself to others Monster in the closet. there is no right way to scrapbook. last but not least remember your telling your story!!! be bold and honest:)

my best advice would be : let your feelings bring you and don't buy a lot of supplies untill you have not found your style... try a lot of things....

Just start simply. You don't have to have it all, you really won't even want it all. Just do a little at a time and don't worry about being caught up...enjoy it, it's a HOBBY!
