I think the best advice for a new scrapbooker is to tell the stories that are most important to you. Don't worry about using all (or most) of your pictures. Just tell stories.

My advice for new scrapbookers is: don't be afraid and let your creativity to lead you. The page doesn't have to be perfect for others but if it's perfect for you, that matters because it was made from your heart.
Also don't download every single freebie you see out there, the same thing with buying new stuff. You can use what you have already and will be surprised how many beautiful pages/projects you can still make from the stuff you have in your stash.

Gosh Ali, I think some of my favorite "tips" come from you!
So, my best advice is to check Ali's blog religiously! I so appreciate you inspiring me to photograph the "everyday". I spent so many pages of my oldest daughter's books on those big events, birthdays, first tooth, etc. however, I can't remember what she loved for breakfast, I can't remember what her favorite movies were at what age. I can't remember the "little details" that are just as important to me now that she's almost all grown up.

it doesn't have to be perfect....I started to have so much more fun once I let that go

I really wish someone gave me a lesson on adhesives. There are so many out there and after nearly 6 years of buying every one on the market and wasting a ton of money I have it down to a handful of my go-tos.

I wish that somebody had told me that imperfection was allowed!

Scrap whatever style makes you happy. It is your art, and needs to only please you. I also like to stress including the story though too- I try to put down on the page whatever I would tell someone about the pictures if I was sitting right there looking at the page with them. If I can't let someone look at the scrapbook without commenting, then I haven't done a good job of documenting the important things.

To just remember there are NO RULES!

I hope this doesn't post twice! I tried earlier, but was unsuccessful. My advice is to be kind to yourself. Don't stress over making "perfect" layouts like the ones in the magazines. This is a learning experience and a journey. Celebrate your life and learn as you go.

Don't buy too much at first. Scrapbook first for a few months before buying too much. I bought a ton of stuff, stickers, etc. and still have quite a collection of stuff I do not use so much now. Jenny

My best advice for a new scrapbooker is to attend some crops and get to know other scrappers. There are as many styles of scrapbooking as their are scrappers and every one of them is "right". And I would warn a new scrapper that this might be the most addicting hobby they've ever done!

i wish someone had told me i didn't only have to scrap events... my favorite pages now are about emotions. :)
