my advice is to just keep the pictures and the story the key element. Don't get so caught up in all the decorating that you lose the story and the pictures amongst it all.

So, I am pretty sure that I will win, since there are only 1,533 comments ahead of me, my advice is start small and by that I mean get a small album and a few great supplies. You will be done in no time and have something to show for it. It will motivate you to keep going!

Why? Answer that and it makes the rest easier. It will give you direction in your craft.

When I began scrapbooking I wish someone had told me that it will never be done! Your life continues and so should your books-- you will NEVER be caught up or finished, but that's the fun of it all! Enjoy the creative process, don't worry about the end.

Don't try to scrap EVERY picture you have! It can become overwhelming! And you don't have to scrap in chronological order...just work on whatever inspires you right now!

Be real, be yourself. Don't worry about what other people are doing and don't worry about being perfect. Document your memories with your own style and be real about it. No one's life is perfect.

My best advice...go digi! Seriously wish I started out with digi instead of feeling the guilt for having a room full of paper.

I think my best tip would be not to go crazy in the scrapbook store your first couple of visits. Develop your style and add to your collection slowely.

My advice is to not go out and buy everything right away. Get the basic supplies and then slowly add to them as you find your style.

Advice:
1. Enjoy the process, don't worry about catching up.
2. Do what you want.
3. Put YOU in the pages and on them (write with your hands sometimes.)

Just like with fashion, fads come and go. Don't feel the need to buy every new hip embellishment that comes along. Invest in classic "pieces" and tools, such as neutral papers, good cutters, and pens. Make your pages focus on the pictures and the journaling, not the embellishments! Your journaling is the best embellishment you can have!

I would tell a new scrapper to take it slow and just do what feels and looks right to them. I would try to walk them through the steps of picking out papers and journaling and just let them do the rest! Thanks for all the really cool giveaways!!

You really don't need much more than a pen, paper and photos to scrap.

Don't try to buy it all. Scrapbook, don't collect! It is so easy to buy and not do.

The very best advice I received, while I stared at my huge pile of photographs, was "You eat an elephant one bite at a time." That gave me perspective. I have scrapped one bite at a time ever since.

Remember why you want to scrapbook and stay true to that.

DO NOT collect for the sake of "gathering." Buy what you need as you need it...

Try not to be intimidated....Everybody scrapbooks a little differently...so do it so YOU like it- that is all that matters because it does not need to be "perfect".

My advice would be to surf the net and be aware of all the different styles that are out there and what appeals to you. Then you can feel more safe to do it your way. Learn techniques from a variety of people and then make it yours and have FUN.
