Our summer traditions include family time at the beaches and our annual summer road trip. I love having the kids home because it gives me time to do so many fun activities that we don't get to do during the school year because of homework, school sports, and lack of time. Have a great summer Ali, Kim

We go to the fireworks display and symphony concert at Laferinere Park in Metairie, Louisiana. It is always so beautiful. I love when our syphony has concerts in the different parks in and around New Orleans. It is always so relaxing and moving to just sit under the stars and enjoy beautiful music.

A tradition we do each summer is to visit my parents in Ohio (we live in Philadelphia). They plant a huge garden and the kids look so forward to picking anything that is ripe. Then at nighttime we set off a huge bon-fire and roast marshmallows. And my dad who is 76 now puts up a swing for them. These are times they will always cherish.

One of my favorite summer traditions is the Relay for Life. My husband, three daughters, two sisters, nieces and great friends form a team and raise money, then walk in relay form overnight to fight cancer ~ the disease that took my Mom from us.

every summer our family goes to Bair Lake Bible Camp where my husband and I volunteer out time as "mom and dad" to a group of teenagers and my kids enjoy camp life. For the last 12 years, We have been there for at least a week each summer and have occasionally managed to do longer stints like 6 and 9 weeks.
My oldest informed us that he isn't the oldest anymore-since we are "mom and dad" then he has a whole lot of camp brothers and sisters!
We have had the pleasure of building long term relationships with some of our camp kids and have seen many graduate and quite a few marry. Now were are waiting for "camp grandkids"!

When I was younger, my sisters and I would spend all morning and afternoon in our pool. My favorite part of the day was always when my mom would bring out tunafish sandwiches and cokes for all of us, and we'd take a break, eating and chatting. Still love the feeling I get when I think about those days. :)

I love making sun tea in the summer time. We don't get a lot of sun on our deck so I try to take advantage of the longer days of summer to let my jar of tea catch those rays. Also, reading on the deck is a must in the summertime.

One of our favorite summer traditions besides biketours and being outside in our garden until dark is going to the strawberry field and picking strawberries for home-made jelly :o)

I come from a large extended family. When I was growing up Saturdays were spent with aunts, uncles and a very large number of cousins. There was always a pot of coffee on and someone made a cake from scratch. When evening rolled around we would pull out the cards. You could play if you were old enough to play be yourself. Smaller kids could sit on someones lap to learn the game. My aunt Bonnie wouldn't let anyone go to bed until she won at canasta. For one long weekend every summer my brothers and sisters with kids and grandkids in tow meet to camp and raft together. We hike, raft, ride bikes and tell stories on each other. When evening rolls around out come the cards. It's a way of sharing the past with our kids.

My favorite summer tradition is to attend the sweet corn festival in my hometown. Freshly cooked sweet corn, slathered in butter and salt, at 25 cents per ear. Can't be better than that....

We have a big get-together every fourth of July. My grandma has food catered (bbq & corn & watermelon, oh my). We make flag cookies. As many people from the family who can come, do. I haven't been for a couple years, so I'm really looking forward to going at the end of the week (and taking my boyfriend to meet everyone).
