My favorite summer tradition is sitting in my sisters backyard watching the fireworks that our town puts on the 3rd. So looking forward to next week!

It's simple and a little traditional - but I love barbeques with family and pool parties. I also love hanging out with my niece.

I've lived in Wisconsin my entire life and still have not embraced winter. That means I look forward to summer all winter long - so we have lots of traditions here. Probably my favorite is going back to my college town, Whitewater, each year for 4th of July fireworks and their carnival. Another is putting one of those inexpensive rectangle pools (where you fill the sides with air) at the end of our slide on our back yard swing set. Then we put the hose at the top and it is 'instant waterpark' for the kids.

one of my favorite summer time traditions is the annual fireworks show - we pack a picnic dinner and a big blanket, meet all our friends and just enjoy the spectacular show.

That would definitely be a camping trip and enjoying the time around the campfire cooking, roasting marshmallows and cuddling up in the tent!

One of our very favorite summer traditions is making homemade ice cream! We have one of the old fashion hand-cranked machines (which, in OUR opinion, make the very BEST homemade ice cream!). Filling the wooden bucket with ice and rock salt, placing the freezer can into the ice, we place a big towel on the top, and the kids take turns either turning the crank or sitting on top of the towel to help hold the machine from moving, since it gets a little hard to crank near the end. YUM! Strawberry is my fav!!

Our favorite summer tradition, (there are many), is too go to the gravel pit, an old swimming and fishing place. We always take a watermelon and let the kids play with it in the water before we cut it open to eat it. It keeps it cool and gives the kids something different to play with. Grandma and grandpa always try to catch the biggest fish. It's just a great get together for the whole family.

My favorite tradition is Wednesday Night Beach Nights which I've blogged about here: http://peaceliving.wordpress.com/2009/06/14/beach-nights-have-begun/. It's so great to have a weekly time to catch up with family and also enjoy the beach!

We attend a huge annual 4th of July/thank you party that a farm family hosts.
They have an amazing pond area, complete with a one bedroom house ("The Shack") in a remote area of their land.
We all bring food, lawn chairs and bug spray. The day includes swimming, eating, drinking, paddle boat races, cowboy golf, volleyball, four-wheeling and lots of catching up.
At night, they light a bon-fire for s'mores, chase fireflies and cap off the party with an amazing fireworks show.
We've been going for at least 15 years- as long as we've been renting out our farmland to them. Although our kids are adults, they still look forward to this summer tradition!

My favourite summertime tradition is planning a vacation that is all about visiting family from far away. I love going "home" to visit the special people and places from my childhood.

our family all helps out working at the church-sponsored firework stand. Then when all of the work is done on the Fourth, we celebrate by watching a lot of fireworks.
