Summer Staycations at one of the local resorts. Usually we get a great deal because the hotels are slow in the summer (Phoenix) and my husband works in the industry!
We all love the mini-trips with mini drive time!

Our town festival! First we attend the teddy bear picnic, then we browse the sandcastle competition, and end the weekend off with the torchlight parade.

Heading up to Washington Park for a picnic dinner. We pack outdoor toys and plenty of bubbles along with sandwich fixings and lots of finger foods, and just enjoy the warm air, cool breeze, laughter and good times with each other. This has become one of our family's favorite things to do in the summer!

Fourth of July in the park. It's perfect in our small town; so good that my sister and her family drive out from the big city to join us!

My favorite summer tradition is when my 2 daughters come home and lay in the pool with me and we have lots of girl talk. We have done this every year since they were 9 and 14) and our refreshments have gone from koolaid to now (ages 21 and 26) margaritas!

My favorite summer tradition is planting the tomatoes, watching them grow and then eating them like an apple right of the plant with my two boys.

One of my favorite traditions is to drive back to my parent's place in New Brunswick. Their backyard is a smorgasbord of berries, birds, flowers and grape vines. I love pushing the kids on the rope swing in the forest. It is peaceful and bountiful. The kids and I pick currants and gooseberries and help to make jams and pies and wine with grammie and grumpie. Ah, I love summer vacation with family!

Wow Ali, what amazing give aways. Thank you to all your generous sponsors. Taking a road trip, seeing the USA. And in the last several years a tradition for me, not the family necessarily has been going to a CKU or Creative Escape. So fun and inspiring. Although I passed on CKU this year cuz you were not going to be there, sad but true.

My favorite summer tradition is getting out in the great outdoors for some camping. When I was little we would ride horses 30+ miles into the forest and stay for weeks.... it is a little watered down now but still really fun.

One of my favorite summer traditions is going to the book sale at a local library. It's a library in a very wealthy neighboring town, and is a HUGE summer event! My family and I make a day of it and then celebrate by having lunch at Friendly's afterwards.

My favorite summer tradition is to go to the Heritage Festival here in Edmonton, AB. "All" countries represented with dance, food, crafts, merchandise etc. I find something new every year. Last year I fell in love with Eritrean music and dancing. The best festival ever!!!

My favorite summer tradition is getting the tent out and setting it up in our backyard. I love that it feels like we are camping, but at the end of the day I get to go to sleep in my own bed!
