One of my favorite summer traditions is reading programs at the library. When the kids were smaller they loved getting the stickers and prizes. BTW, I just have to win the Jenni Bowlin BPS class! Thanks Ali!

My favourite summer tradition is the sunflower festival that our small town holds every July...parades, food buffets, stage shows, candy scramble, needle in a haystack, strong man competition, pancake breakfasts, fashion show, and a street dance.
I LOVE it!!!!

getting together with 3 other families and vacationing together. i've always loved the idea in the movie 'dirty dancing' where the family goes to the same place and sees the same people every year. what a fabulous tradition! we started doing this last year, and i think the continuity is fantastic. the kids all love playing together, the parents all enjoy each other's company, and it just deepens everyones' connections (we've all been friends for 3 years) and it's important for the kids to be surrounded by other families with the same morals, values, and beliefs. it takes a village right? so we started our own!

I love watching the fireworks from our backyard on the 4th of July. Magical night, and reminds us what summer is all about.

My favorite summer tradition was going to family reunions. When I was little - it seemed like there were 100's of people there. Now as the older family members pass away, the attendance falls. I wish that the younger generation took family and history as serious as the old timers did.

My favorite summer tradition is summer reading! I love getting a stack of books to read during camping, days at the beach, after the children are in bed, in a chair in the back yard. I make a point each summer to get books for DH & I to have beside the bed. He is reading the Bond series this summer; I have a variety. Reading For the Family's Sake - Susan Schaffer Macauley right now and LOVING it. -tania

My mother's side of our family has been having a reunion for the past 30 years. It's always held on the Sunday before Labor Day. The matriarch of our family, my great-grandmother was named Pearl Neumann. Her daughter's (Pearl's Girls)and each of their offspring represent a different 'clan' of sorts. Each year a different clan hosts the Neumann Reunion Pig Roast. We even have our own gong show with awards. When I was a child this was the single most significant event of the summer. When I was a teenager it was the single most embarrassing event ever. And now in my middle years (age 37) it is the most precious gift.

My favorite summer tradition is to go camping. It's a ton of work...packing, planning, and setting up. But totally worth it when you're finally sitting around the fire catching up with friends.

My favorite summer tradition has always been the county fair. Growing up I would enter various crafts to the open class judging. There was also the kiddie barn filled with cute baby animals that for some reason my parents would never let me bring home. The parade is great too with the Barnyard Marauder band with their signs on their trailer while they played "There is no beer in heaven." It's something I've always looked forward to because I could also see family.
