one of our favorite summer traditions, among others, a trip into the city for cool weather (san franciso is much cooler in the summer than the central valley of california!), fireworks on the 4th, lots of popsicles, eating homegrown tomatoes, to name just a few! and thank you for the give-away!

favorite summer tradition...
Besides lots of beach time with the kiddos, my husband always have a night ever summer that we walk out to the end of the pier together and sit until dark talking about everything and nothing.
I so look forward to that time:)

One of my favorite personal Summer traditions is my Summer reading list. I usually add books to that list that are longer than most of the stuff I read. Like this year, I'm planning to read Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. Love the idea of sitting under a shade tree outside, diving into a great, long book.

State fair is a favorite summer tradition - especially the polka tent and cream puffs.

If Labor Day counts as summer...then my parents tradition is my favorite! Every Labor Day weekend since they were in college, the same three families get together for a weekend full of food, games, and catching up with each other. We rotate who hosts the crew since we're all in different cities. The tradition has been going for more than 30 years! I'm a 9 hour drive from the closest "host" and we don't miss a year!

Getting out the slip n slide for the kids. They love it as much as I did as a kid. Good, clean, summertime fun!

Favorite tradition is gardening - not really a spring thing where we are because it isn't warm enough to plant very early. We have an annual perennials exchange in our village, after which the kids plant the gardens with us. I love the sense of ownership they have - anyone who comes to the house also has to have a guided tour of the garden!

My favorite summer tradition is fairly new--I've been doing it the past 5 years or so. I drive my kids (now ages 18, 14 & 12) from our home in Colorado to Utah, pick up our oldest (age 26) and all of us take a road trip to visit my parents in southern California. We have visited other relatives along the way, gone to national parks (Yosemite last year!), and always spend time at the beach. We take a different route every time and see new things. My kids have a great time together and Dad usually joins us for part of it--I don't know how many more years I can pull it off, but it has been wonderful!

i love making sweet tea every summer. Simple as that. So refreshing, too, and it's too hard to find in Colorado!

We've always hosted a fun 4th of July BBQ and Swim party, but this year we're hosting 2 foreign exchange students for the month of July so it will be fun to include them! We are excited to meet Clement, 17, from France and Maxim, 15, from Russia. I hope that hosting exchange students will become our new summer tradition. Can't wait!

Now that we live away from our families and friends from our home state, our biggest summer tradition is our annual summer visit. It's a fun road trip and we so look forward to catching up with our relatives and friends. The makings of great memories.
