When I was a kid, my brother and I enjoyed the tradition of celebrating our birthdays together on the Fourth of July; his birthday is July 3 and mine is July 5. We had birthday cake, presents, and sparklers!

Our summer tradition is spending time out at the lake. Growing up it was my grandparents house and a couple of years ago it became my sisters house. Now I get to watch my kids develop the same tradition of living at the lake for the summer. Love it!!

Watermelon seed spitting contest! Sounds super silly and stupid, but it really is funny and "FUN" to see even adults trying to spit watermelon seeds pucker up their cheeks to spit the seeds as far as they can!

Our son's birthday is two weeks before our anniversary and we always go out as a family and do something fun separate from his party and our "date night". Hopefully our second baby will be born in the summer so we can continue to do this!

Favorite Summer Tradition: Every year, my family would rent a houseboat for one week on Lake Shasta in Northern California. We learned how to fish, how to ski, and how to make smores. We hiked, gathered berries, and made bonfires near the shore. Several years, we had a bear try and get onto the boat. It was the best tradition ever!

discovering new places around the Island with our camper and canoe; road trips; sleeping under the moon and stars; I think that's the best summer tradition I'll ever cherish and always look forward to.

We love watermelon! I slice a watermelon, then we head outside to eat it. Usually we have a seedless watermelon, but if we have seeds, we just spit them out. The juice drips everywhere. If it is a really sweet watermelon, it just makes our day!

One of my favorite summer traditions is going on a road trip with my mom. We seem to leave behind the daily stresses and just enjoy hanging out together.

it's all about the fourth of july for my family.
we've been doing the same things for as long as i can remember.
breakfast in the park at 6am to see the hot air balloons take off, then watching the small and never changing fourth of july parade, walking around the park to the enjoy booths and fair stuff, go take a nap, enjoy the evening with a party with friends and family, then head to my old high school to sit on the football field and watch the fireworks. its the same every year, and i love it.

I think my favorite tradition is my family always getting together for July 4th. We have always gotten together, had a bbq and watched fireworks. This will be the first year in a long time that I will be able to spend it with them.
