Backyard get-togethers with friends. Grill some burgers, drink some beer, and hang out/talk on our porch until late into the night.
And I'm hoping to start a semi-regular tradition of hosting a big party with inflatables in our back yard. :)

Summer is so short here...we spend as much time outdoors as we can. We visit parks, play in the backyard, go camping, and drink slushies!

Camping is definately my favorite. A time to be together as a family with nothing interrupting. The beauty of the wilderness as our playground!

Waking up early in the morning and making sandwiches and packing up juice boxes. Going to the gas station to buy ice and fill the cooler to keep our lunch cool. Going to the beach and finding a prime spot right in front of the water and lazily floating around asking why the sky is blue and where the waves come from. The best time to realize you're human and small enough for the world to envelope you. Those are my favorite summer traditions.

My favorite summer tradition is shopping for a new bag for work. It makes it easier to start back to work in August after a long summer off if I am carrying a new bag.

We love to go to the mountains and take family hikes. It's the perfect place, since it doesn't get too hot there. Also, camping is one of our favs! Nothing like going to bed and waking up to a campfire.

I don't remember the summer it started, by I'm pretty sure I only had two of my four kids (after four kids my memory is pretty shot), but my mom instituted "Day Out With Grandma." She picks up each grandchild to spend the day with them, just the two of them, doing whatever they want to do (on Grandma's budget). They've gone to science museums, movies, archiology sites, to get manicures (for the girls), shopping, Build-A-Bear, alpine slides -- they have definitely been all around town. It is THE thing to look forward too as the end of school comes around and it requires much planning on the kids' parts. When she started she had just my two kids, she now takes all eight of her grandkids, which makes her busy almost all summer break.
