Growing up and now with a family of my own, I have always loved our trips to Cannon Beach, OR in the summer. For everyday summer enjoyment...the sprinkler is a big favorite in our house!

I can't say it is a formal tradition. It is a time for sun, swimming and hiking.

Picking fresh basil and using homegrown tomatoes to make the first salad of the season. It always tastes amazing and so much like summer.

Going to the beach in our sun-dresses ! Perhaps impractical with strong winds but nonetheless totally fun and cool ! ha!

No summer traditions at this time, but I'm thinking of starting a once a week (during the weekdays) picnic dinner at the beach. We did it recently, on a whim, and it was a lovely way to end the day.

Definitely going on a family trip! Whether it's going on a 36-hour plane ride or a 6-hr roadtrip; whether it's a month-long vacation or a weekend getaway; whether it's going to the beach or exploring the concrete jungle of a city; whether it's just us or with friends... our summer is not complete without a family trip. :-)

Our favorite summertradition is called "Opadag", Dutch voor Grandfathers-day. My dad, granddad to 5 grandchildren, organizes a day full of surprises for his kids and grandkids. A lot of fun for all of us, esspecially for the kids. We all love this tradition in our family!!

My favorite summer tradition is ditching my shoes and socks and breaking out the flip flops! Love hearing the sound they make as I walk!
