Favourite summer memory from childhood? Going out really early in the morning, just after the cuckoos had started cuckooing, net, bottle and notebook in hand, ready for a whole day's nature exploration. Coming back to play with the children on the street: tennis, water bombs, scary story telling. Feeling like the day lasted a whole year and being the happiest I think I ever remember being. Bliss.

My favorite summer memory is going to the local pool every.single.day. It was close to where I lived and we always had fun there - there was never a shortage of kids to play with when we went to the pool!

My favorite summer memory is walking with my brother to get ice cream cones. I can close my eyes and feel his sweaty hand in mine, dirt under his fingernails, smell his hair, see the red of his hair and scrapes on his knees. It is one of those rare memories that is so sensory for me, I can BE there.
My brother died when I was 11 and he was 7- walking across the street to get an ice cream cone, he was struck by a car.
I cherish this memory, simple as it is.

I loved camping in our tent trailer every summer with my parents and little dog! Because my dad is gone now, my favorite memories are those that I cherish of times I spent with him. My absolute favorite moments were after I had spent the better part of the day jumping waves in the lake, swimming until I was thoroughly water logged and shivering uncontrollably because that's when my dad would sit me down on the hot sand, wrap me in a big beach towel, and hold me until I was toasty warm again.

Going to Grandpa's house. A week in the car both ways, roadside breakfast, cereal in a box, camping at night! Then the Mississippi River and were a day away. Then three weeks with cousins we didn't really know but because they were cousins you got along. Then back home to California where it's a totally different culture, but it's home.

my favorite summertime memory would be getting up early, packing up sandwiches and drinks, tying them up in a bandana on a stick and heading to the woods to hike along the creek. we would build forts, play in the creek, pick blackberries and stay gone for hours {much to the mother of five children's PLEASURE ;)!!}
we thought that this is just what everyone did, soon when our friends found out... they joined in. mom finally bought us all 'fireman boots' to save our tennis shoes... what fun we had less than 1/2 mile from home but still so far away...

There were 10 of us. Brothers, Sisters, Cousins. We were dirty and barefoot, but we were having the time of our lives. Hide & Seek, building forts, eating apples off the trees. Man, those were the days.

Spending couple of weeks with Grandma and Grandpa. They lived far away so we didn't really get to see them for that long other than during summers and ski holidays.

my favorite childhood memories of summer are holidays in a small town - the 4th of july with a pancake breakfast, followed by a patriotic program, free town lunch, snow cones....and kids' foot races - with a box of cracker jacks for each participant! i love the memories like these that i get to create again with my own children....
