A favorite memory is exploring the houses being built in our under construction subdivision. Especially sitting on the occasional roof at night.

My favirite summer memory is just the freedom I felt - freedom to not have a set schedule, freedom to play and explore, freedom to be a kid.

My favorite childhood memory (although I'm still a teen) is sitting in my backyard-blow-up pool with my parents and acting like fools and just not having a care in the world...just being a kid and living everyday to it's fullest!
Thanks for a great chance to win some cool prizes!

That totally carefree, relaxed, never-to-be-truly-repeated feeling as a kid ... reading Nancy Drew under the shade of our big tree in the front yard. :)

Playing carefree with my friends, sleeping late, waking up late, no homework but my favorite of all were the road trips we used to take with my grand parents, they taught me so much. They were brave and restless to raise me and my sister and they did everything with so much love, thats what I remember the most all the love in everything they did.

My favorite childhood summer memory is the summer we went to Austria, camped at a wonderful place and made blueberry jam that we picked in the mountains. My mom and I were up picking the blueberries and an older man came up to us. I guess my mom asked him a question and he joked he would give the answer for a "Kuss". That means kiss in German. However, in our local dialect (which my mom and dad would speak to each other) it means molar. I couldn't understand why my mom would have to give him a molar, especially since she had false teeth.

The first one that popped into my mind was homemade ice cream. You know the one with the hand crank. I used to be the one to sit on top of the ice cream maker, while my dad or grandpa turned the crank. It was such an exercise in delayed gratification, waiting for the moment when the ice cream was at that perfect blend of soft/firm. Oh, how I long for that taste right now since it's over 100 degrees!

My favorite summertime memory is going to the beach, coming home all sandy and then jumping in the pool. The pool felt so cool and refreshing on the sunburned skin. I can still feel that refreshing first jump now!

My father taught us all to swim at a very early age so every summer included a lot of swimming. My favorite adventure was when my dad took us up to the mountains (in California) one summer day. My mother packed a large picnic basket, filled the jug with some sort of red Kool-Aid and fresh fruit. We were told to put our swim suits under our shorts and get going. Dad found the coolest spot when the water had formed a small lake. It was sunny on one side, shaded on the other with a few picnic benches. We spent the entire day jumping off large rocks and swimming, just our family. It was such a great day. A ranger stopped in to make sure we were not lighting a fire and he ended up sitting and joining us for lunch. Mom always packed more than enough. I wish we had had photos of that day, it is still my favorite family day out. I asked Dad about that location not long ago and he couldn't remember where it was. I was heart sick.

I think it might be the times when I would jump on our trampoline and sing songs.

I loved going on family vacations. We always drove and my mom doled out Sugar Daddies and BB Bats to keep us quiet on the ride to that year's destination.

I remember the hot summer of 1976. I was 5 and I can recall eating homemade ice lollies in our garden looking up at the blue sky that seemed to last a lifetime. Life was good and carefree. My Dad still had his health, which was all to change a couple of years later and still troubles him greatly today. Thankyou for the link to the blog and the chance to enter the giveaway.

My favorite childhood memories are the summers spent traveling with my Granny. Starting at the age of 10, when I was old enough to both enjoy the sights we saw and be away from my mother and still behave, she'd take me for two or three weeks, and we'd ride in her old Caprice Classic to scenic places like Colorado and Arkansas, up in the mountains. There were state parks, national forests, local historic landmarks, and the inane chatter that ensues in long car rides. I've seen vast canyons, raging rivers, snow capped mountains, and rolling fields from the backseat of that old car. Being an retired teacher, the trips also often took on an educational route. Many of these memories and lessons are still the center foundation of who I grew up to be and how I conduct myself. I wouldn't trade any of those trips for fancy vacations to exotic places. The summertime trips we made were the beginning of my wanderlust, so I can be nothing but thankful for the curiousness they inspired.

I remember all the kids on the street sitting on the grass in my neighbors yard while she cut up a huge watermelon. We each got a slice that was bigger then our head and we devoured it!
